Hey guys,

just bought BODTWRAP.com which is great typo domain mirroring bodywrap.com

This domain was bought for $15,500 in 2004, but it was available.

How can I advertise this domain? Shall I contact bodywrap.com? I don't know if I have a compelling reason why they should buy this domain name.

Any suggestions would help! Thanks.

Be very careful with TM issues. Tread carefully on contacting the company or using the domain in bad faith (i.e. to profit from it).

No offense, but that is either a really bad/uncommon typo domain or a TMed brand.

I don't know how anyone would misspell "bodywrap" that way. Now, bodEEwrap, sure, that is more logical. Or even BodEwrap. Even maybe BoTwrap. Or even BoTrap.

Thing is, I bet nobody would misspell the word "body". Especially not as "BodT" anyway. It would only be good as a brand name, and not a great one at that, either.

Since you stated that it was sold for $15.5k at one point, my guess is that it is a TMed brand, or at least it used to be.

JMO, I suppose.

I checked for trademarks at here http://www.uspto.gov/

and couldn't find any for bodt or bodtwrap. Is there another place I should be checking for trademarks.

Also if it is was a UK or Canadian trademarks where can I check them? Are we affected by trademarks of another country?

Thanks guys.

You need to check for the trademark "bodywrap" and "body wrap."

What are the chances of someone typing that in:

You would have been better off getting bodywrpa.com

I found two TM for Bodywrap and over 40 for variations of "body wrap". But would that cause any issues for bodtwrap.com ??

What you are doing is basically using the typo domain in bad faith. You are obtaining traffic and potentially $ from people trying to get to the bodywrap.com site. Typos can get you into a heap of trouble if your typo domain is from a TMed domain name or site. The fact that your domain is spelled differently does not matter. However, if you had a typo of a generic (non-TMed) domain like beef.com, you probably would be okay.

If you really want a crash course lesson, try getting the domain gooogle.com or yahooo.com.

LOL!

Dude typo domains are called typos because someone makes a typing error. It has nothing to do with how people spell the word. If you look on you keyboard you will see that the "T" is right next to the "Y" someone could easily type in "bodywarp" too quickly and get "bodtwrap" instead.

Ahhh. I see. I did not think of that. I was merely looking at it from a pronunciation and branding standpoint, which makes it a terrible domain. But you are right, that makes is a true typo domain seeing how the "t" and "y" are next to each other on the keyboard. My bad.

I think it may be more likely the typo of bodr instead of bodt since the t is for the right finger while the r is for the left finger.

I wish I knew who the previous owner of this domain might be. Whoever it is, paid some big bucks to own but didn't renew it (I guess). It was bought at pool.com for $15,500..

I would'nt think it would get very much traffic as bodywrap.com has only got an overture result of 234 with extension.

I can't see any results in archieve either ?
