The problem is that nobody has heard of xyz. Domainers have, but the rest of the world has no clue about them. Could you imagine launching an xyz site, and telling people your website name, and them giving you a dumb look and scratching their dead, saying .... what? I don't get it. And them remembering the website name with that extention is a whole other issue. I don't care what xyz name was available, I wouldn't buy no matter what the name was, that goes for other extension like .club, .co, mobi, etc.... and all the others. Try building a site with those extensions and you will see what I mean. It would help if people who bought domains also had experience in developing a site as well so they understood these issues.
