Hello,

Recently i acquired .com domain, 2000 registration, Brandable, +5,000 baclinks including YellowPages.com / .ca and some other strong backlinks.

The domain has been developed for last 5-6 years as Computer Repair, Store, Services website.

Parked since 1 week and receive 20 - 35 daily visitors and growing.

I develop websites as long as it will provide "upgradable" revenue in the long term.

I'm really thinking about develop this domain into Computer Blog ( News and etc .. ) .. the revenue will be based on AdSense / Affiliate Links.

Do you think, Blog is the right way to monetize this domain ?
Do you think, Blog worth it ?
and If its a blog .. WordPress or Blogger.com ?

Looking for your thoughts and inputs.

Thanks.

Blogging is a huge chapter in internet marketing. If you are passionate about your subject then you can make a decent living off advertising. But you need to work hard for it and be consistent with your content. Content is King is the key phrase.
If you do go into blogging then make sure you read these blogs:
http://www.entrepreneurs-journey.com/ : Yaro Starak's blog. Make sure you download the free "Blog Profits Blueprint" ebook. Undoubtedly the best I've read in the field.

http://www.problogger.net/ : Darren Rowse's blog

If its going to be a computer related blog, I'd advice you to get image ads. Also if it is going to be on a particular subject ( PHP programming, etc) Ill say you could try out click bank's affiliate program.

blogging is sort of a hard work.. especially with the amount of blogs coming up everyday.. u hav to give it a lot of time and attention...

if its a website tht u hav to develop.. you don't need to be constantly on it after the first cpl of months... like setting up an online store or something...

blogging though is very interesting, fun and if done properly rewarding...

do go for wordpress instead of blogger... u can use adsense, auction ads (for computer stuff), sell text and banner advt. even do paid reviews for monetizing it... another advantage of blogging is that you will develop a lot of search friendly content.. develop a lot more back links... so the resale value and the traffic if u put into parking will increase manifold...

like xpsave says.. go to problogger.net and yaro's blog..

or come to www.unneglectable.com as well... just for the heck of it.. :)

self hosted wordpress is the way to, find some good rss feeds to keep the content fresh, adsense, adbrite, ypn, worldniche ads all work well. autoupdating rss feeds keeps your work to a minimum. keep good text links, and always crosslink ALL of your sites regardless if they are related, this will increase PR and web presence.
Good Luck!

I wrote a long post on just this topic based on revenues people make (some make big money blogging) from info. provided by Paula Mooney - the conclusion was

"So almost 3.5 : 1 in favour of WordPress, but it is worth bearing in mind that of those earning $50K or more, 14 are using Wordpress and only 3 are using Blogger."

Blogger is easy to use but most pros use Wordpress, the only problem is it's a lot more complicated to use, but if you know about computers and webpgaes, html etc... it should not be a problem . There is also a lot of money to be made blogging provided you can get sufficient traffic

Don't worry about me. I'm online for 11 years now. and i developed tons of websites.

I started already with self-hosted WordPress and will start blogging so soon.

I'm wondering if the RSS feed is the right approach or not.

If content is king (and we all know it is) then slapping up feeds seems like a cop out. Do you guys thing you'll really build any traffik?c posting feeds?

I'm doing a bit of it right now, but I'm leaning towards researching and writing my own content (even though I suck at writing).

What do you guys think?

Yeah..I was wondering the same thing....Live feeds is an easy snap up job...Does it really pay off ? I agree its lots better than writting a bunch of articles yourself...So its quite excellent feature...
