Five years ago I bought the domain xx.ma for $400 on this forum and I've paid renewals, controlled DNS, the entire time. Recently I received a message from NETIM the registrar behind the domain requiring me to change the ownership information due to new .ma rules requiring ownership information match the true owner.

The ownership information was still the information of the old owner 5 years ago so I went to update the information which ended up requiring me paying $20 to do. From that I received a form to fill in sent by NETIM employees from .ma registry.

I was told by NETIM that I had to fill in the form with my name and signature and the original owner's name and signature.

As well as that they also require me to get the original owner's passport scan and send it to NETIM.

I have been unable to get this information from the old owner because they aren't responding to any messages here on this forum after 5 years.

I am unable to renew the domain until I update the ownership information. (Expires in a few months)

NETIM are ignoring my messages now after explaining that 1. I am sure I should provide another person's passport and 2. I cannot get the original owner to respond.

I am under time constraints because renewal is blocked. NETIM won't reply. I contacted .ma registry 3 weeks ago and haven't had a response.

What do I do in this situation? Am I protected?

.ma domains require local address it seems.
You can try this: (if your present registrar allow)
# Find a registrar who provide Local Presence Service (Check This - Regery) and,
# Transfer your domain to them, along with their Local Presence Service.

If this works, your issue solved..

Send me a direct message with their username.

I'll see if I can help.

Also check if 101domain.com offers their trustee services for the domain extension.

Hello everyone,

My name is Sรฉbastien Almiron, I am the CEO of Netim, and I know some of the members of this forum, and some of you know me as well.

I have just created an account so that I can interact more easily with you when you have feedback or encounter problems.

Can you please send me the name of the .ma domain in question via DM?

You should be aware that the registry has launched a massive verification of .ma domain name holders. From what I understand, you have never updated the holder's details and are unable to verify their identity.

If you purchased this domain name from this person, I can try to see how we can resolve your case so that you can pass the verification requested by the registry.

Cheers,
Sรฉbastien.

Dear Alcy,

You must understand that unfortunately we have no control over this, and that the procedures imposed by the various registries must be followed.

A few notes for anyone purchasing domain names:
  • Remember to update the holder once the transfer is complete.
  • Do not use fake details.
This second point does not apply to our case here, but I still see it too often.

Regards,
Sรฉbastien.
