Blacklisted! What a nightmare!

Yesterday, someone sharing my shared hosting ip address mass mailed international lottery spam. Now my shared ip is blacklisted and my users' registration emails are not getting to them. It's really a nightmare. I requested a dedicated ip hoping that might keep a similar thing from happening.

I received an email from support stating they had "terminated" the offending user and removed the ip from the blacklist. I have no idea how long it will be before it is actually unblacklisted. When they change to the dedicated up addres it should be fixed.

Yuck, my domains are blacklisted because another user on my shared hosting account spams, too. No luck getting it taken off though, so we have to deal with using SMTP instead of PHP to mail things.

Happened to me too. After the offender was banned, I had to email companies that had my IP blacklisted and ask them to remove it from their black list.

Ask to be moved to another server ... I have seen it done before.

After communicating back and forth with support all day yesterday the issue is finally resolved and the IP address has been unblacklisted. The timing was terrible. I had just announced my site on several screenwriting boards and now a bunch of users are stuck in limbo because they couldn't receive their registration email.

I'd really like to take legal action against the spammer. If anyone knows the steps involved in this feel free to share .

I wouldn't waste your time, he will be hard to trace.
