@DomainBizDev – It’s very easy to develop “domainer’s tunnel vision” where we only evaluate a domain’s value based on existing search volume and cpc numbers. This numbers-based evaluation is important (especially for domains we want to sell). And to be frank, a lot of crappy domains are registered by newbies with no thought given to how they could be used and monetized and then posted for appraisal here on a daily basis (me included

). Seeing crappy domain after crappy domain could definitely make someone with the best intentions more prone to “domainer’s tunnel vision”. We sometimes forget that passion, a strategic business vision, some smart marketing and a bit of luck can turn (almost) any domain into a successful brand. If someone uses a domain to create real value for other people I believe that person has a good shot at creating something people will pay for. The ease with which you recognized and apologized for your narrow evaluation was refreshing and pleasant to see. :D
Let me be super clear just in case someone TOTALLY, TOTALLY new to domaining is reading this - I’m NOT saying any and all crappy domains can be sold for a profit or that you should completely discount a domain name’s poor statistics. :gl:
