Beyond the Hype: The Real Reason .AI Domains Are Skyrocketing

Let's be honest for a second—unless you’ve been living under a rock or perhaps disconnected from the grid entirely, you’ve noticed that the internet looks a little different these days. It’s no longer just a sea of ".com" addresses. Everywhere you turn, there’s a new startup, a new tool, or a rebranded giant sporting that sleek, futuristic ".ai" suffix. It feels like a sudden explosion, doesn't it? But if you dig a little deeper, as highlighted in a recent piece by Forbes, this isn't just a random trend. It is a calculated shift in the digital landscape that signals where the money, attention, and future of technology are heading. We are witnessing a land grab that rivals the early dot-com days, but this time, the stakes are arguably higher because the technology behind the domain is transformative.

Is it sustainable? Hard to say. But compare it to the .com market. A premium, three-letter .com can go for millions. A similar .ai is rapidly approaching high six figures.
That's really overstating the market value of both.

There have only been (22) reported $1M+ LLL.com sales on NameBio ever. They are relatively rare.

There are (8) LLL.ai sales reported over $100K. Only one over $350K.

The wholesale value for the worst quality LLL.com is around $20K+.

I am not even sure if all the LLL.ai are sold out, because I see them sell frequently for low $XXX.

Thank you for being the first to comment and for the direct, honest feedback. The AI domain narrative and its future potential were first highlighted in Forbes, which I follow closely..

After doing my own independent research, I felt NamePros is the most appropriate place to share this perspective and invite informed discussion from such an experienced community.
