I've picked up lots of Spanish words from their crappy soap operas I watched as a kid and I figured I could build on that cause the language is pretty cool to me, sounds better than French. And also it's spoken in a lot of countries.

So what would be the best way for me to learn it? Besides going to that country cause I obviously don't have money for that lol.

Books? Computer programs maybe? Or something else?

A mp3 player type of thing that you can listen to while you wash your car.

Finding someone to talk to on something like skype or a neighbor

BBC has free beginning language courses online -

They have some mp3's you can download too.

Talking to someone who speaks it fluently is the best, imo.

Thx guys, I'll check it out.

Has anyone here heard of Pimsleur? A friend of mine swears it's like the best thing ever.

I've heard Pimsleur is not bad but you best of using a variety of different approaches but it'll be hard to become fluent unless you actually immerse yourself to learn it.

You can try using Rosetta Stone too, its like Pimsleur, it uses images/actions to try to teach you the language but never shows a translation.

Livemocha.com can let you find someone who knows spanish and a english and wants to better their english so you exchange and teach other each other.

offline approach: rosetta stone, maybe "pimp slur"<---haven't tries pimp...but the best and fastest way to learn ANY language is to go to the country you want to learn the language....:)

Movie/TV subtitles and Pimsleur have done wonders for me in both Spanish and French.

Second that, putting the subtitles in English helped me a lot to acquire vocabulary and learn the pronunciation at the same time.

I'm a native Spanish speaker guys, so if any of you get stuck at something let me know :D

Watch movies and tv shows in that language. It helped me learn german, but then again I was only 12 years old when I started my venture into Deutch.
