MoneyBookers is a great alternative. Only problem is that very few people around here have accounts. I recently sent $9 using MoneyBookers - fee to buyer $.09 - fee to seller free.

Keep in mind it is not against PayPal T&C's to have both a business and personal account. So you can use personal account for small transaction amounts and not pay any fees. Restriction is people paying you will not be able to use debit/credit cards. To me its a reasonable tradeoff - just doesn't make sense to pay PayPal $.60 or so to process a $2.00 charge.

Theres MoneyBookers out there you can try, but not a lot of people have that.

Like PeterX said, PayPal will allow you a personal account to... no fees. Just use that and if someone wants to pay you through a debit or credit card just give them your business account. ;)

There is a paypal alternative called 'Green Zap'

I've never used them, though. I believe they've been around for at least 2 years.

goto the .com address of the same name to find out more. (Namepros is not letting me post their website for some reason....)

It won't let you post it because it is apparently some kind of scam if I remember correctly.

I use paypal and have never had a problem. It does exactly what I want, nothing more, nothing less.

Honestly, I know the fee's suck, but they are more than likely one of the largest/safest online IMO.

Paypal 4 life :)

Unless you deal in small transactions ($5 or less), the fee isn't all that bad if you want to be able to accept credit cards. Even the largest companies with their own merchant accounts only save 1-2% off what Paypal charges. Since MC/VISA will always get a %, there will almost always be a fee for credit card acceptance.

For domain sales, I always compare escrow.com to paypal. At some transaction sizes, escrow.com is lower in cost, and provides the bonus of the escrow transaction. If you split or have the buyer pay fees it can be better yet.

It's not instant, but if both seller and buyer both do online banking you can often do an electronic payment for anywhere from free to $.25 a transaction regardless of the amount It's almost always less than the cost of a stamp to encourage people to use it. You just have to wait a day or two to verify payment.
