Best Traffic Estimation Tools?

I've used trafficestimate.com, as well as compete.com and Alexa.com. The variation in results between these three sites makes me think that nobody has got this right yet. Or that it "depends" on whatever data they are sucking from whichever place.

At any rate, I'm interested in hearing thoughts on the traffic estimaters that people have found most accurate.

What say you all?

I think there are no good ones, really. However, I would say that compete.com got my small hobby site almost exactly correct, when I'd expected a can't compute result.

I agree with you that compete.com seems to be able to pick up really low-traffic site stats, whereas the others just give you a "no traffic stats available" message.

Does anyone have a webstats reporting package attached to a low-traffic site? If so, it would be great to hear that person say they compared their stats to those that compete.com is spitting out. If it's even close to accurate, that would answer my question on which free traffic estimation tool to use.

I tried Yofie.com as I have great stats for it, but compete.com shows nothing, so I am thinking it's an Age issue. Yofie.com has been up for about a year now, so I am not sure how old the site has to be.

Ive had no luck with Compete for NameBio.com - Even though I am fully aware of the stats and they are solid, Compete still doesnt list it - So Im curious if its just a browser plugin? Oh well....

I tried compete.com, it looks like it has to be really old domains, and have good
alexa rank. So basically compete.com is worthless.

Thanks folks. Good info. Obviously I was hoping that compete.com would do better on the non-Alexa sites, but that seems to be spotty to say the least. Wonder if there is anything out there that's better . . .
