Best time to buy/sell domains

I am still kind of new in the industry, and I remember that a while ago somebody posted that summer isn't the best time to sell domains.

If we don't take into account external factors (such as the USD, the stock market etc), what do experienced domainers think are the best months to sell domains (if any).

Are there any certain months when the market is more active and more passive? What is your experience on this?

Hi Alex,

Its true summer time sales go dry, beginning of the year times are good, economic factors and etc etc etc...

but don't let them stop you. Just do your best to sell every moment. Everyday is a good day to earn money, everyday is a good day to close some sales.

Just take a look at DNF. 3-4 LLL.coms, LL.nets, High quality CCC.coms, and even a NN.com (a VERY rare name) are up for sale. This is the best season to buy names, IMO. Everybody's offloading for Christmas, and people are picking up bargains.

True, around the months of Oct - Dec are probably the best time to buy names, IMO. And I think the best times to sell are from Feb-May.. and Aug - Sept. That is what I have experienced so-far. However this market is always changing so it may vary alot.

Oct-Dec is the best time to buy domains imo as well.
I've been mainly buying right now.

January is always a slack month for sales, good time to pick up bargains though.

Still Frank Schilling said best buy period is around March.

Ok, so Nov-Jan isnt the best time to sell.

Summer isn't the best time to sell.

That leaves Feb-May and Sept-Oct.

Oct-Feb is usually slow. Sales start heating up again usually in April-August.

Here's a question on when to sell.

I'm selling traffic domains and would like to know which are the months when traffic is high (hence, high parking revenue). If I sell my domains during these months, then I'd fetch a higher price.

Well, to be honest, the summer months were terrific for me. June and July were my biggest months by far. I made more from sales in those two months than the other 10 combined....

Most of my sales are also between May and August. Now I'm mostly buying.

I think anytime can be good or bad to buy. The key is to be patient and find good deals. Look at the entire year of stats and make assessments from that. Good luck and have fun!!!
