Best screen size for web site.

Hello!

What would you say is the best screen size of a website. I've just started on a new one, but i know it wont fit on most monitors. Mine is set to 1280 x 960 which makes it hard to judge on smaller resolution. I hate changing it as is messes with my icons .

So, what's a good size to use in this age?:wave: _\|/_

Same here. I always make my webpages 1024*X compatible.

I used to code for 800x600 but I think I will optimize for a 1024 pixel width.

id say standardise for 1024 really, 800 if its a public service site

I use 1024 also, but I think now monitor screen are getting bigger...so I don't know

only in certain industries, they are not yet bigger as a whole.

gamers get huge resolutions, but family monitors are not yet large enough to warrant missing out on 800 and 1024.

plus, some people may still be using old monitors.

1024 It's most used screen size for websites in my opinion but also 800 is also popular.You decide

Depends on your site topic and your audience ...

Are they tech-savvy early adopters? You'll be OK with larger screen sizes.

Expecting a decent percentage of technophobes? Stick to 800x600.

Or hedge your bets with a fluid layout.

Also, even on larger monitors lots of people tend to open multiple windows minimized instead of one big browser window full-screen...especially anyone sneaking in a little personal internet time at work !

If you can make a website look good with 800 width. Do it. Only because of people having resolution set to 800 max (having old computers)

Or if by percentage, Max of 80% width i would say

My screen resolution is 1024x768. I know a lot of people these days who are using the same resolution...

Everyone has their own preferences. I like 1024 x 768 screen resolution.
