Best registrar for Euro ccTLDs?

I've been looking at several European ccTLDs.

Normally I register all my domains through GoDaddy or Moniker. But, GoDaddy won't register some (.se) and Moniker's a bit expensive.

I was looking at EuroDNS, but half the time their site is too slow to be usable.

Is there anywhere else worthwhile? Please only list a registrar if you have in fact used them over the years.

I hold domains in 15+ European extensions and I deal with about as many registrars. I'm skeptical about one-stop shopping because:
  • the places like Eurodns have many extensions but they don't always have great pricing
  • you will often find that registrars don't have a good grasp of the peculiarities of each extensions, often it's best to go with a local registrar

For .se I suggest Sedirekt or Loopia.

BTW Moniker is a reseller of Key Systems for most ccTLDs afaik.

The best thing would be to use the top registrar in each market. (The point that Sdsinc makes above about locate registrars understanding the peculiarities of local registrations is a very important one and the larger local registrars would know these.) It may work out cheaper than using a one-stop-shop registrar. Also generic domains do not perform in the same way in ccTLDs as they do in gTLDs.

United-Domains.de is very good, not the cheapest but I use them and I find them very helpful and reliable.

Never used EuroDNS myself but heard very good comments about them. Other than that, specific ccTLDs may have specific registrars that are recommendable. So which European extentions you're after specifically?

there are many good ccTLD registrars, try not to use too many, otherwise it might become a nightmare to manage your portfolio of domains. Stick with 3-4 ccTLD registrars and you should be able to get most of the time th best pricing and still have a good overview where you have which domains....

It seems to me eurodns is more preferable.

Hello. So does that site somehow allow the registration to show that the owner is based in europe? Cause I'm looking to purchase a European extension but it has those restrictions and I need services that provide this. I found one company in the past but have been unable to find any as of late. If anyone has some good leads for me, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

I would not recommend Galcomm personally.

Never had problems with Galcomm, I also know the owner personaly, but I am sure you will always find someone who doesn't like a certain registrar or has had bad experience with a particular registrar. Maybe you can suggest a better one.

why not? And which one would you recommend then? Galcomm seems to be one of the few that have English websites.

You can register .il domains from Isoc direct (see above). They may be a tad more expensive but I usually feel safer dealing with the registry.

Galcomm used (?) to have a decent backorder service which for .us domains (Namescatch), that's how I ended up having an account there otherwise they're nothing special.

Beware 'special' pricing.
I had 4 .us domains caught through their backorder service, which had been expired for a few days (my fault), then renewal price was no longer $15 but $49 ea...

Each time I contacted them I never got a response and it appears it's not just me. It's the problem with Galcomm.
Maybe they are on autopilot - I wouldn't be surprised at all.

If you check ISOC there are only approx. 6 accredited registrars for .il domains and four are based in Israel proper.
