Best place to buy .CO.UK ?

I am about to buy my first .co.uk domain.

I asked around with a few friends, and someone advised by 123-reg.co.uk , they'd offer UK domains for only 3 GBP/year with free webmail added. The company would be linked directly to Pipex, which is a well established ISP in the United Kingdom, so it does look reliable to register a domain through them.

But before taking any action: does anyone know if another registrar is better or more reliable?

Of course I rather keep things not too pricy, but price is not the most important. I rather pay 3 or 4 pounds more per year for a very reliable service then going with the cheapest but having barely any features and bad support...

I recommend ukreg.com - always get my .co.uk's with them

I get mine with lowcostnames.com or www.lcn.com

They're ยฃ7.50 +VAT but customer service is good.
Hosting very expensive here so don't use it - try ukwebhosting instead.

Let me know if I can help.

Namecheap.com are my registrar of choice. Their .co.uk reg's are a tad more expensive @ $18 (ยฃ10) for 2 years than 123-reg and the like but i'd deffo use them.

Telivo.com offers them at a discount. ยฃ5 for 2 years, ยฃ2.50!!! Thats the cheapest ive found. But you have to have 2 years!

Thats the same with all .co.uk reg's, I think.

I get my .co.uk from 123-reg.co.uk

I find them very easy to use, I have never had any need to contact their support in the last 3 years but some NP's here have said their support is not very good.

I would use them for .co.uk but not for .com

GoDaddy.com ... it is $19.95 (a little over 10 pounds) for two years (which is the minimum term set by nominet - the .uk registry) , but you can push them to another GoDaddy account for free if you sell them ... no need for the costly transfer through nominet (plus paperwork) ... almost anybody has a GoDaddy account ... or can set up one for free ...

I emailed GoDaddy customer service once specifically for .co.uk pushes and they said all domains registered at GoDaddy can be pushed to another account for free ...

of course choosing registrars is up to preferences and intended usage so just check around to find what you like most or what best suits you ...

LCN.com is amazing. Their site is very simple and straight to the point. No rubbish. I've sent them emails and had a reply within 10 minutes. Their prices are a little on the expensive side (ONLY in my opinion if you are a reseller/portfolio/spectator).

I have had a lot of trouble with 123-reg.co.uk... their customer service is awful... they couldn't care less. They have ยฃ200+ of my money that they still haven't given back to me. I've got trading standards working on the case at the moment.

I bought a .co.uk the other day and for some reason their forwarding services or nameserver services aren't working. I emailed them about 3 weeks ago... no reply. I mean... I could just go to their useless ยฃ0.50p a minute line to get a real response but they'll be laughing all the way to the bank. I intend to move my '.co.uk' names to Godaddy or LCN.

I emailed Godaddy about transferring .co.uk names to them twice, and I still haven't responded so It looks like I'm moving them swiftly, and for free to LCN.

Good old LCN :tu:

Have fun

- Luke :)
