Hi

I am mobi now and didn't see where Rick moved his flowers.mobi site to but surly a lot better then where it was and mobi friendly.

I have most of my mobi names at parked now and really hopping they become Mobi friendly.

Only co I know is sedo on mobi format and ricks site but don't know where its parked yet. Will look into this later today

Tell me your successes on where I should go with mobi designs and good tags and slowly bring traffic over ?

I am leading towards sedo only for a future sale and promote my mobi names that have value I believe like 401kaccount, atmaccount and etc. Want a good ctr rate and ppc for financial and banking terms and loans.

I am not a developer. If I was I would probably try admob and heard good things about them even though there clicks at times are low.

I may just do sedo since they are big mobi supporters and had a successful auction on mobi ones. Maybe they will include me one day.

Thanks in advice and suggestions.

Happy thanksgiving everyone.

J

Hi Jeff,

Sedo just sent out 3 "workshop" emails. Did you see that?
I have been applying the information to the dotmobis that I have parked there, and the traffic is steadily building, although could also be a result of increasing interest.

I also like the way the NameDrive pages have very applicable links.

And in third place, but pulling ahead, I love the way some Bodis pages display well on the iphone (which wouldn't be off the mark for your financial terms) however the format compliancy isn't there. Clicks happen though.

I use other parking companies as well for dotmobis and I think it is wise to watch them closely for changes coming soon!

Hi Jeff,

Here's my take on mobi parking:

IF your parking your mobis on a non-compliant page, what good are you doing for the health / adoption / acceptance of the extension? Dot mobi is and has always been, to steal a phrase from Scandi, a "trustmark". A site where visitors are assured a good viewing experience. You know, fast loading, fits on a small screen , no side scrolling, ect. By parking on non-compliant sites, your diluting this down. If everyone went this route, what would be the use? It's just devaluing everyones investment. Not to mention, mtld, still has the option of "taking back" sites that don't comply. It's bad enough that a majority of parking links go to non-compliant pages. But, these pages are not .mobi pages.

It's not like you're going to get rich on mobi parking anyway. Sure, you'll get a few clicks every now and then. Some names will pay for themselves. But mobi parking has 2 things going against it.
1) The majority of the public still don't know what .mobi is
2) Mobile "Surfer" habits are likely to differ from desktop surfers. This has not been proven yet nor will it be for awhile. Just a hunch. :imho:

Not to mention that even in the dot com world, more and more surfers are getting tired of parked pages. Unless a system like IMODO comes around for mobi... :) Hint, hint :hehe:

Most of us need our mobi's to be doing something though. We don't want to waste an opportunity for a buck or two! The mobis I have that aren't developed yet are parked at one of the compliant parking companies, namedrive. I've used both ND ad Sedo and I like the coversion rate of ND better. Again, just my opinion. I hear that Sedo traffic tends to be brisker, but CTR is not. Try some at both and see which one works out better for you.

You mention you are not a developer. I'm not either. But the majority of my mobi sites were still "created" by myself. Sure, it takes a little time. But the time invested sure seems to be paying off. I was always under the understanding that traffic = value. The more traffic, the more valuable your name. Although I don't have generic "premium" mobi's (got into the game too late), I can still compare apples to apples because the quality of my names (parked VS developed) remain the same.

What I'm getting at is simple. I have 100 mobis parked. Month to date, as of this post, I have a whopping 102 views total. Out of that I have 20 clicks.

My weakest self developed site has over 102 uniques this month (to date). Although it is not monetized yet, it will be soon. And I guarrenty that it will out-preform all of my parked pages by itself.

Another note: My parked pages are not indexing very well on SE's. My developed sites, on the other hand are doing extraordinarily well in this segment. Heck, I've even got a couple of my do-it-yourself sites at PR-3.

My recommendations would be to self develop at least 1 of your mobis and see how much more value you'll have. There is no downside. Your developments only help the entire....dare I say it?...

thanks in follow ups everyone.

mobi is becoming more known...with admob out there and google pushing hard for mobi-we are in the seed stage as an angel investor says when he invests. get in on ground floor and there are risks to things but payoffs are huge if it hits.

i think i own around 100 to 120 mobi names...i agree-development is key....

as a long term shareholder says in the stock market-there in it for the long haul..thats my approach and my hedges in the domain business. you win some, loose some but i love my mobi and .tv names....

as a domain investor, a heavy mobi user i couldnt agree more it has to be mobi formated.....however-blame the parking companies for not offering this besides sedo from what i am seeing.

keep them going.........

Jeff..I also mentioned Namedrive.com as an alternative. Their parked pages score better than Sedo's on mtld's mobiready report.
