Hi all,

I was wondering what "category" of end-users you find it easier to deal with, i.e.: easier to sell to.

Are travel agents more receptive than, say, lawyers?

What's your experience?

I hope this thread might prove useful to newbies as well as the rest of NP users.

Share your opinions.

Matt

I have heard that it is usually hard to sell to lawyers :)
Hope for JoshuaPZ and Federer to answer, they are selling like mad to endusers and can definitely tell some trends...

From my experience, neither lawyers nor travel agents (nor most other educated professionals) like being approached by domainer "scumbags" who are "cybersquatting" on their firm name or niche. However, I have heard of many higher-profile domainers reselling quality names to lawyers for tens of thousands. If you have an extremely high-quality, generic name and are willing to hire a highly educated, experienced broker to act as your facade, the professional will know he/she is dealing with someone powerful and may hence be amenable to hearing the broker's pitch. But if you're looking to quick flip a law or travel-type domain and simply over a personal e-mail letting the professional know the domain is for sale, there's virtually zero chance they'll respond positively, if at all.

It's easy to sell to freshers in the business as they have little idea of the staff, but not always. also i think it's easy to deal with with everyone who are not keen on domains so much and whom it's something not so important like one more branch of business!

I found lawyers extremly difficult to sell to.

I got lawfirm in swedish which I tried to sell to 25 firms only one was interested.

In general business that consider themselves established is harder to sell to.

They don't feel that they need another domain name.

One lawyer wanted to buy my .com domain.
This lawyer has .info and offered $9.99 :D
I didn't even reply since it's not worth my time, heh!

Edit:
Checking further, now I know this lawyer registered
.net, .org, .info, .us, .mobi and .biz on the day she
sent me $9.99 offer.

the best kind are those with an aggressive business mentality. they want to grow their business and understand how domains fit into the puzzle.

Commercial and industrial names have been the best for me and the best end user is one that comes back for more names; repeat sales are always the easiest. Also when you get a sale see what other names in the same industry have potential / are available - I sold a window film name a few months ago and last week sold a window tinting name which I had hand regged at the same time (had 1600 exact matches on Google).

Real estate and travel agents were my best end users in the past so I converted myself to a real estate business but dropped since years ago because of the economy crisis then I'm now in the travel industry.

Depending on the quality of your judgement, all end users are equally easy to deal with - that doesn't mean that they all are always on the same page as you, but it means that it is a damn good page that you are on.

You have the ability to properly advertise your domain to an end user who fits description of the ideal client for that domain. But not everyone will want your product.

Just get better at what you do in every way, and think of quality of domain names versus "ease of sale". The ones that you can get rid of fast are not always - or usually, the most valuable.
