Well, it's about time to move back to school. I was wondering about your opinions on which antivirus software I should go with? Any help is certainly appreciated!

I have been using AVG "Free" ..for many years now...It seems to do the job well...I don't know about it being the best though.

And you would not take my opinion. But I do not use anti virus on my PC.

From last 4 years I am not using any antivirus.

I just keep in mind not to download everything that I see. And not to accept files from unknown sources.

It is good for me as my PC runs faster :D

I think that the best on the market is FSecure.

It is a Firewall , Anti-Virus and Spyware Guard all in one and is exceptionally easy to set up and configure.

I have had no problems on my pc since I started using it and it updates without any problems from the website everytime you switch your pc on.

No man I am on windows.

But I hardly get something new from the internet.

I am just a developer and 90% of time I am writing my own codes in notepad.

How about AntiVir (also free) and Microsoft Windows Defender (another one that's free)? I use both.

if you can afford it, it's better to pay for some of the better ones...

i'm personally using symantec antivirus but i'm sure the others are just as good - mcafee, etc.

somehow, i just don't 100% trust the free ones since i have loads of important stuff on my laptop...

actualy mcafee and symantec slow your computer down and AVG found stuff that thay dident

AVG is very well known and popular, and has been around for years. AntiVir Guard supposedly does even better by some feedback I read.

May be I should compare both, but it is hard to do when the results are clean. That's why third party feedback becomes important.

I don't simply rely on the free ones, of course. I use them to check on the ones I pay money for. LOL.

avg is brill, no firewall is needed just use the one windows xp has.

Unless your on a full network a firewall is advisable such as zonelabs.

NOD32 is the only way to go IMO.

pccillin - very low system resource requirements. I can leave it on while playing even the most resource hungry of games or using bloated apps. Never have we had a virus on any computer on our network with their suite installed.
