AntiVirus/Firewall Recomendations

Hi,

Ive recently been having problems with Norton Internet Security after there newest update which stopped me being able to use outlook and messed up me using my FTP.

Ive now got fed up with Norton now as it too me dosent seem like a quality product no more.

So what im asking do you guys have any recommendations for a antivirus/firewall package (all in one) prefrably to use instead of norton?

Ive looked at McAfree but im not really into finding out what ones best etc.

Hope you guys can help me out!

I'm also having problems wirth Norton, it seems to not only block alot of emails coming though (one's which I know are innocent cause I'm sending them from college!) and also the firewall seems to slow down my downloads.

Well norton sux, it bogs down your pc, I use AVG 7 www.grisoft.com,not had a virus in 2 years, sorry i can't help with firewll as my router has it's own..

I would suggest you to try AVG anti-virus free edition.

I did used to use AVG but did eventually opt for norton.

I do like AVG however im not found of the later versions of it. Also it dont have a built in firewall protection system like many others do unless you wish to pay extra for it and ive not seen mnay reviews on thier firewall software.

Antivirus - Kaspersky AV

Firewall - Tiny Personal Firewall

About 4-5 years ago I thought Symantec and their software was secure. After a couple of buddies of mine ran a test on my computer I found out how bad their protection really was. I changed both the firewall and the antivirus program and I haven't had a single problem since.

Tiny does a great job with loads of customization options. Kaspersky has been proven to be one of the best Anti virus programs on the market, year after year.

NOD32 - Probably the best Antivirus out along with Kaspersky.

Firewall - I like Sygate, zonealarm works too.

Free Antivirus - Avast. Every AV makes its mistakes, but one is too many, and AVG missed an old virus coming in. I had to format on my birthday =(

Nod32 has done the trick nicely as my antivirus and I've been using it for the past 2 years.

Sygate and Outpost are two nice and easy to use firewalls. I highly recommend either or.

Good luck with your search for a new replacement of your Norton software.

I use AVG and Zonealarm.Both freeware and very efficient,For spyware i use another good 2 freewares,Spyware Doctor and Adaware

http://www.clamwin.com/ looks good. It's basically ClamAV (a *nix anti-virus) for Windows. 100% free and open source.

Antivirus - McAfee (personal firewall plus, privacy service, virusscan, etc)
Spyware/AdWare - Lavasoft AdAware, Micro$oft Anti-Spyware

Haven't had any problems with them. Been using McAfee for over a year, and AdAware near as long. They seem to do just fine

I have succesfully ran a webserver with the above configured properly and had no problem with people accessing and downloading certain files but if something malicios was tried the firewall blocked access instantly .

As always, the above are only suggestions by me and I believe you should ignore them and download a copy of linux .

Would like to say thanks to you all for taking the time in responding making my choice easier to narrow it down to find one which suits me best

I have now gone for the McAfee solution "mcafee internet security suite 2006"

As it has everything in it that i will need for a good price of £41.99 ($72)
