I’m posting this as an experience-based guide for domain investors who care about execution, accountability, and not losing sleep over renewal or dashboard issues.

I’m not claiming any registrar is perfect. I’m saying: if the platform is inconsistent when something goes wrong, the risk can dwarf any savings.

How I’m rating “Pricing”
It’s a simple relative score using typical .COM renewal pricing (5 stars = cheapest in this list, 1 star = most expensive). Prices move, promos vary, and portfolios may have bulk tiers.

✅ Best Domain Registrars in 2026 (Highly Recommended)

Registrar.COM renew (USD)PricingTrustpilotBBB accredited?Afternic Fast-TransferSedo MLSQuick notes
Dynadot$10.88★★★★★4.6/5Yes✅✅Solid controls + automation, consistently reliable for domain management.
Porkbun$11.08★★★★★4.9/5No public BBB accreditation (check profile)✅✅Simple, low drama, good UX. Clear pricing and generally smooth execution.
Spaceship$10.18★★★★★4.4/5No public BBB accreditation found (check profile)❌ (coming)✅Very aggressive pricing and modern UI. Still maturing as a registrar brand.
NameSilo$17.29★★★☆☆4.7/5No (BBB profile shows not accredited)✅✅Not the prettiest UI, but widely used by investors. Stable and predictable for many.
Unstoppable Domains (DNS registrar)$11.08★★★★★4.2/5No public BBB accreditation found (check profile)✅❌Investor-focused tooling and pricing model. Different ecosystem and approach.

❌ Registrars I’d AVOID in 2026

Registrar.COM renew (USD)PricingTrustpilotBBB accredited?Afternic Fast-TransferSedo MLSQuick notes
Sav~$10.15★★★★★2.2/5 ‼️No (BBB profile shows not accredited)✅✅Low pricing paired with repeated reports of domains being auctioned during disputes, unresolved renewal conflicts, payout delays, and inconsistent account visibility. The risk profile is materially higher than most registrars. For serious portfolios, that tradeoff is unacceptable.
GoDaddy$22.19★★☆☆☆4.5/5Yes✅✅Big ecosystem and liquidity. Heavy upsell/monetization and a lot of moving parts.
HostGator$23.99★★☆☆☆4.6/5No (BBB profile shows not accredited)❌❌More “hosting-first” than domainer-first. Domain pricing and processes can be frustrating.
Epik$15.99★★★☆☆3.6/5 ‼️No (BBB profile shows not accredited / not rated)❌✅History matters. Proceed carefully and keep balances and renewals simple.
one.com$26.99★☆☆☆☆4.3/5No (BBB profile shows not accredited)❌❌Works for some EU hosting use-cases, but pricing and domainer workflow are not great.
Network Solutions$29.19★☆☆☆☆4.5/5No (BBB profile shows not accredited)✅✅Expensive renewals and “enterprise legacy” friction. Not my choice for portfolios.

Why Sav.com is now on my avoid list

Sav initially attracted many investors due to low pricing and marketplace integrations. I even had them as one of my top registrars in the beginning of 2025.

However, recurring independent reports include:

• Confusing renewal/expiration handling and desk interface inconsistencies
• Domains reportedly lost or auctioned despite customer efforts to renew or retain them
• Slow or unresolved customer support tickets and follow-ups
• Auction wins not delivered promptly or refunds delayed
• Dashboard inconsistencies leading to ambiguity about status

These patterns show real execution and trust issues that many users have independently observed. For serious domain portfolios, trust and predictable outcomes matter far more than small price savings.

Closing thought
This business is not about saving $0.80 per renewal. It’s about stability, policy consistency, and what happens when the platform fails.

What registrars are you trusting most in 2026, and which ones have moved to your caution list?

Here is another issue I uncovered with sav.com. After, they failed to renew and auctioned off my $5000 domain eea.net, and even due to issues before that, I've been transferring out ALL my domains out of Sav.com. Small issue - many of the transfers failed. Because I manage so many domains, I did not notice these failed transfer notifications for some names. And of course, Sav.com happily auctioned them off and made money.

So why were the transfers failing? Wrong authorization codes. I NEVER have this issue. I don't guess authorization codes, I don't type in extra spaces, there is a very neatly organized system that I have in order to manage my large portfolio. So I was curious, am I just dumb, careless, or was something else going on? Well, the great part about UnstoppableDomains is that they send you the exact authorization code that failed.

So let's check. Kyik.com shows the authorization code highlighted.

As I said before, I don't guess my authorization codes, I export them directly from the dashboards. Sav.com exports a file with the authorization codes, very convenient. So let's double check:

No, there are no empty spaces, the authorization code sits between the quotes.

Transfer has failed on February 5th, 2026.
The authorization code for this specific domain was exported Jan 23, 2026.

Is it a security feature? To change the authorization codes or to expire them? Some registrars do have that. But it's 30 days, not 2 weeks. And this is just one case, I had plenty of names that this happened to. I have the literal receipts.

But regardless, according to them their system DOES NOT automatically update codes without permission.

So what's the big deal?

Well, who gains from this? Is it us the customers that they so dearly value and protect? No. When a domain name transfer fails, Sav.com is able to directly profit from this by auctioning the valuable domain names. By not losing domains to their competition.

Why is it that all of these flaws all lead back to them profiting from the situation?

SAV offers at-cost backorder service even though they suck... Is there another registrar that offers the same?

Unstoppable has SedoMLS integration

What exactly is Sedo's MLS - is it just the equivalent of AN Fast Transfer?

Anything to be aware of before allowing it?

Upfront charges/ higher commission?

TIA.

Yes. Same like AN fast transfer.
If domain sold through sedo partner network, commission will be 20%.

Not sure. But how much can you expect from an at cost backorder? If people will undoubtedly grab the name faster from the drops by hand-registering. I think the only time this is a viable option is when it's a low-key name that is highly unlikely to be seen by others AND for some reason you cannot go and hand-register it yourself that day (or don't want to spend time doing it). Even then, with the buggy Sav system, I wouldn't trust them to do anything.

Just a reminder to avoid the registrars in the avoid section!

Good list. In my experience reliability and predictable policies matter far more than small renewal price differences & as of now Dynadot and NameSilo have been quite stable for domain investors over the years.
