In a few minutes at exactly 8 min after 8 pm, on the 8th day of month 8 of 2008, the greatest sports event in the world will begin.

The Chinese regard the number 8 as a lucky number. B-)

Let the games begin!

I love the Olympics but the politics behind it ruins it for me.

Plus, they banned Scottish athletes and their supporters from waving Scottish flags which really annoys me.

It's a shame that they allways bring politics into sport. It's probably more to do with the Tibetan flag. I remember in the Barcelona Olympics were the crowd showed their Catalan flags but they weren't banned.

China is still shit scared of any signs of dissent or protest.

Michael Phelps has broken an olympic record in the 400 m freestyle in one of the heats. It's a good start for his attempt to break Mark Spitz's gold medal record.

Michael Phelps won his 2nd gold medal when the US beat France in the 4x100 freestyle relay. They had an amazing recovery in the last 50 metres. A race to be remembered for a long, long time.

2 down, 6 to go!

Don't forget to mention that the French guaranteed a win by saying they would "smash" the U.S. in this event! -LOL- Ooops always better to talk smack after you have won.. :guilty:

It was a very exciting race, I was out of my seat at the end of it. :)

You can only feel sorry for the French who were considered by some as favorites :'( . On the other hand you have to admire the US swimmer who recovered a considerable French lead to just barely beat them. WOOOOW! :tu:

JanineXD, you can follow the medals count at:
