Hi

I have been offered yesterday $9500 for one of my domains out of the blue from a reputable buyer www.try-on.com

What is your opinion and do you feel it would be a good time to sell?

Thanks

Just to make sure,

This buyer didnt ask you to get an appraisal first, did he? To me this seems a bit steap of an offer for your domain name. Unless this is recieving some nice traffic (which is also a question).

If the buyer is legitimate, I would say take the deal without a doubt. I think its a more than fair offer. I would have valued the domain much less.

I wouldn't give $50 for the domain. And tryon.com is probably easily obtainable from whoever owns that domain and not doing much with it.

If a buyer asks for an appraisal first - that's a scam. I've learned that last week :)

If that's a legit offer, I would take it ASAP. Are you sure it's not your typical appraisal scammer?

No I checked him out. His company has developed some amazing scanning technology and he wants to set up a website in conjunction with their retail stores.

Check it out.

Did the offer come from an email at selectrings.co.nz ? If it is indeed legit sold in a heartbeat. (congrats if so)

My advice is to do what you feel is best. Asking appraisals in a domain forum does nobody any good. What if the person where to find this thread on a Google search? He sees people think it isn't worth it & backs out. Honestly the only two people who know what a name is worth is the seller (knowing what it is worth in their opinion even if the majority does not agree), & the buyer (who has their own opinion on what a name is really worth to them).

Any other opinion will never be accurate & truly does not matter.

By the way good luck with the sale. :)

Just edit the original post so the domain is not there once you've finished & the buyer won't be able to find this thread

Accept the offer and run, run , run B-)

Are you saying the domain is "www.try-on.com"

WOW! I think that is a steep offer for a hyphenated domain. Not to mention, being offered 9500 at the first go.

That is a very extreme offer, if it is a real offer accept it straight away! But dont go get yourself scammed.

Go on sell it, good luck.
I wouldn't even mind buying an hyphenated domain.

I remember a thread somewhere around here about "the types of domains you'd never sell. And some people mentioned they'd would never sell the domain name that is their wife's first name or last name,...."

In this case, tryon[]com happens to he the registrant's last name. Do you think $9,500 was offered to tryon[]com and he refused to sell? =)
