Become Bot

I just has a weird bot crawl my site... It was called the become.com bot.. I never even heard of this bot... nor do i know where it came from

Anyone ever get this bot to crawl there site?

Do you sell stuff on your website? Because http://www.become.com/ is for shopping. I've never had it before though.

Heh, its not just shopping they are interested in. They spider my site every day and every day they hit at least 500 pages. My site is about wallpapers and celebrities.

My stats show it hitting my site 98000 times over the past 2 months. I sell nothing, just a few affiliate pages etc.

That's strange. Is it using a lot of bandwidth, and are you getting an referral traffic from become.com? You may consider blocking it in robots.txt.

Urchin does not seam to track becomebot stats, I had to create my own tracker for it.

I get no referals from become.com, (first time i have checked)

My own stats counter doesnt tell my how many bytes, just page requests from bots. So I am not sure on the BW useage, but I am running a dedicated server and barly using 1/8 of my bandwidth alotment I am not kean to stop them yet. I will see what happens in the future.

Yeah, the become.com bot is quite aggressive. We had a thread about it last year when it was first spotted.
