it seems the "i" domains stand a good chance with all these corporate regs (hopefully soon to be developments)

Hi,
i've just seen the amazing new addition at bbc.co.uk of the iplayer.
I notice the bbc have registered iplayer.mobi, i'm very much involved in the world of the mobile internet and am fascinated to know if you're bringing this addition to the mobile web via iplayer.mobi?
If so, when?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards
Arnie

Heard back short time later:

Dear Arnie,

Thank you for your email and query which has been passed onto the
iplayer team to advise and respond to you as appropriate.

Watching a Program on iPlayer now.

I think the BBC has a tendancy to use folders instead of seperate domains, makes everything easier to find on BBC.co.uk.

This is also only open to UK residents too.

true, but to appeal to a younger audience bbc.co.uk/ etc. is incredibly ugly & unhip

also, it was a mate of mine from Pakistan who mentioned he had joined up and i may like it
:hehe:

I'm happy to say I'm a beta tester of BBC iPlayer. :)

I got in as one of the lucky 100 people earlier on. Have been for quite a few months now, and I have to say it's a very good service. Although you have to use Internet Explorer.

Got the email back from them. See earlier posts:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxx,

Thank you for patience whilst we have been dealing with your query.

At the launch of BBC iPlayer, Mark Thomson confirmed that we intend to make the proposition available to mobile devices. It was also considered during the Public Value Test consultations. Mobile has always been on the roadmap for BBC iPlayer but we are still firming up the details as to how and when we intend to deploy this.

Thanks for your interest and support for the BBC iPlayer.
BBC Domain Manager. :)

I sent this:

> Hi,
thanks very much for getting back.
Purely on surfing charges would be great to see.
I mean look at a lot of the big boys, they all seem to be going .mobi
It just gets too tirtesome wiating for a full .co.uk or .com site to download.
I go to these a lot on my mobile:

www.time.mobi
www.paypal.mobi
www.foxnews.mobi

I love the BBC so much, just came as a shock you weren't using bbc.mobi that's all. Be great to see the iplayer though!
Once again, thanks for finding the time to get back to me.
Cheers
Guy Rampersaud

Thought get back to be polite.
They are very nice people working over there at the BBC i haveto say.
