Hey Everyne,

I originally posted this in the Newbie section but it was suggested I post here.

My original post:

I found this website and was hoping this would be the place to get some help with my domain. I own a number of domains but I have a question about one in particular. It's a great domain name that I have owned since 1994. I am the original owner. I used it for my business and now that I am no longer doing that particular business, I am looking for other options for my domian. This is what I am thinking:

1 - Sell it outright if I can get a lot of money for it (6 figures)
2 - Rent it
3 - use it to generate an income with ad sales??

I would appreciate some advice on this. If I try to sell it, do I go the auction route? Should I just try to contact companies directly? I've been contacted a number of times but I've always turned down the offers. I've tried the domain parking route as well with a and wasn't very happy with the results.
Please help out if you can. It seems like everyone on this forum is very knowledgeable.

Thanks!

Stacey

hello Stacey

you can try in the next premium auction in Sedo, ask for a price (i think high xxx, xxx) and wait to see if anyone is interested in that price. That can gives you an idea of how much you can get for it.

regards

A lot.

If FruitBaskets.com went for $142,500 I can only imagine how much this name would go for.

You have a very solid domain Stacey.

do you know when and where fruitbaskets.com was sold? Who bought it?

right end user can pay low x,xxx, xxx imo... awesome name....

I think this is a great name but do not think its worth $XXX,XXX amount at this time. That fruitbaskets.com sale was to an end-user when domains were at peak. Early Feb.

Its not the plural which would make it much better. IMO, i wouldn't touch the domain for anything over low $xx,xxx amount.

If i were you i would hold the domain for a while and when times pick back up try to sell to the company that bought FruitBaskets.com. They might be willing to pay the amount you want.

Agreed, this could be possible.

Personally, if I owned a domain of this caliber I would develop a site on it. You can make a nice sum of money from putting adverts on it. I am picturing an informational site with plenty of Amazon and Ebay scripts on it. Perhaps adsense but your results with that will be similar to parking. Great domain you have here Stacey!

It was sold on Feb. 13, 2008 and I believed it was a private sale.

Your domain is much more superior.

IMO, if we think on it as basket-case its price is high but not so much on it as the short name for basketball. In that sense, i think its price grows and grows...

WOW! This is IMHO a super premium domain. The shopping/commerce/sport/brandability/ association of this killer domain is superb!

I'm going to go for around high $xxx, xxx depending on financial climate and end user interest.

A true gem which should be held for as long as possible

CONGRATULATIONS!

It can be used as a brandable Basketball name but i do not think it adds value because "Basketball" is not referred to as "Basket". The domain itself as Rick Latona would say, "It does not have legs"

You could submit it to Sedo/Greatdomains so it will be featured in the next auctions along with other premium domains. Just set a reasonable reserve.

As for development this is another option that should be seriously considered so you could build a regular income stream.
Perhaps an affiliate scheme would do well for that name. Something along these lines.
What kind of traffic do you have ?

What kind of offers have you been getting ? IMO you are looking at 6 figures.

10 dollars :bingo:

The right choice is the 4th! :lala:

Don't forget "Basket" is the european word to indicate Basketball sport.
In my opinion, dear lucky citygirl08, you should apply for Premium Sedo Auctions asking for high $xxx, xxx (like $700,000) , i'm pretty sure you will receive several bids up to low $x,xxx, xxx .
