P.S. Just realized after posting above that I may have been low as it would be a fabulous name for use with sub-domains (assuming one likes sub-domains and can make them work well) i.e. LukeAirForce.base.com etc. Perhaps that is why you paid 110k (just guessing).

I would say that it is worth what you pay for :hehe:
I think a resale for a higher amount (to the tune of 200K) is not a far-fetched possibility and strong names tend to increase in value over time.

that's an end user price you paid markus. the domain is worth a bit, but as a reseller i would not have paid more than $60k for it.

i think the traffic might be from people looking for base.google.com, their new upload service.

a bigger corporation may have no problem paying $200k+ for it, but you'll have to just sit tight and wait for those types of offers. i would just develop into maybe a file upload service or something similar.

$110K is a bit more for the name. If you paid 110K for this then I can just imagine that you must have negotiated the price. And I can also imagine the asking price that guy must have kept when started to finish it at 110K's

But the name is good. If you paid end user price then be the edn user and develop it into a huge profitable site. :D

I have a gut feeling that the $110K sales price hit the right sweet spot for this name. The seller got a fair price and the buyer got a good deal for a domain w/ income potential that far outdistances the amt invested. The best of both worlds.

These are the kind of names that take my breath away when I see them on the board. Congratulations.

Pronouncable, brandable, short, $110k, you got a deal there for sure, you could be looking at $400k to the right person. First thing that comes to mind is the shoe brand "Base", high end designer footwear, then of course music comes to mind. Theres not much this domain COULDNT be used for.

If you have the capital to invest in names like these, you are doing well. This caliber of names are still CHEAP. This is $110k, or about ยฃ58k worth of prime real estate which would not even buy a small shop/store on a commercial street in most parts of the world.

Plus, you can use that traffic to generate revenue whilst you wait for an enduser, with minimal knowledge and effort. Compare building a portal (or using a white-label one) to shop fitting, hiring staff, design, graphics, bags and so on.
