Before you decide to disagree with me, I'd encourage you to fully read this thread.

After looking through the forums and considering where to sell my next site, I've come to the conclusion that disabling multi-forum sales really hurts the NP marketplace forum.

I'm currently looking to sell one of my sites, however I usually advertise the sale on at least DP & NP, simply because DP has a much larger userbase. Since you've given webmasters the final ultimatum: NP exclusive or else, I'm forced to list my site on DP and other websites and exclude NamePros.

I know that I can't be the only one whose had to choose to sell on other forums vs. NamePros, and chosen to sell to the larger audience.

Solution: Allow multi-forum sales on NP and DP only. Make a rule stating that sellers MUST post the DP forum link if they wish to sell there.

Let me know what you guys think. :tu:

How would you be able to police shill bidding?

Our aim is protecting our members, risks over rewards.

The conclusion that was come to, is obvious.

How do you police shill bidding now? There isn't really an effective way of doing it... Perhaps allow only members with x feedback use multi-forum sales?

I guess my point comes down to this. I know I won't be the only one who will stop selling sites at NP due to the new rule.

You simply can't expect sellers to cut their potential profit just to exclusively list their site at NP.

I understand that, in house we have a lot of back end tools to make sure shill bidding doesn't happen.

We have seen it before, and I'm sure if we allowed multi-forum sales, we will see shilling again, cross forum, so we can't really do much.

We are just looking out for our members, but I can see where you are coming from

It's much easier to watch your own house for crooks, but if you have to go all the way across town to watch a friends as well it's not quite as effective.

There is nothing preventing multi-forum sales. This rule only applies to auctions with an exact closing time that are held in our auctions forum.

So you're allowed to list websites that have a BIN or best offer format on multiple forums?

Aslong as it isn't an auction :)

Oh, okay that's good. Thanks for the clarification! :tu:

Yes, that multi-forum prohibition only applies to a single sub-forum:
http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-auctions/

By all means, continue listing "make offer" and "buy-it-now" on multiple forums including NamePros. There's also a sub-forum setup for linking to external auctions.
