Just a quick primer for the newbies before tonight's list, so you don't go all hog wild and break the bank:

About 90% of tonite's names get search results. But remember that you won't get that many views if you just park the name. A name can have an overture score of hundreds or thousands and you might still get only a handfull of views on a parked page per month.
A little development, a mini site, some search engine optimization are what will bring the traffic. Then ads like google adsense are what will hopefully bring you cash. So don't reg these kinds of names with the intent to just park and receive traffic... traffic names are pretty much long gone. Get a name you have some interest in developing, even if it's only small development.

Traffic is not a good reason to reg these names. Reg them to develop, or because you love them, or because you strongly think you might have an end user for them, or to 'round out' your portfolio with names in some categories you want to represent.

Checking names with google won't show you the traffic; a name with even millions of google page results might get no searches whatsoever. But checking google IS valuable for showing how common a term is, how it is used in conversation, business, etc., shows what kinds of people/industries use the term, and shows how attractive it might be as a brandable name.

If you buy a name to develop, then sales don't matter; but if you buy a name to sell, you'll want to look at SALES of these kinds of names. For example, violenceForum.com is a great name to develop into talks on violence, problems, law, etc. (it's on tonight's list)... but when you look into domain sales, you see almost no sales with words including 'violence' as a keyword. So you know it'll be a hard sell to an end user, but you might get a couple or a few times your reg fee from an interested party or domainer. To see which kinds of names sell, check out www.sedo.com, go to the domain search area under the 'buy domains' drop down menu. Type in your keyword, and then see how many names are GETTING ACTUAL BIDS. Ignore how many thousands of names are there, if there aren't a lot of names with current bids, you're gonna have a hard time getting bids on yours. This isn't written in stone, but it's a safe indicator to go by. To see actual sales of domains and check keyword sales, take a peek at www.namebio.com, which lists sales nicely.

Note that if you're searching multiple-word names at google (like foot Licking Idiots, instead of a single word like fleeborama), you need to put a quotation mark " before the name; this will bring you ONLY the results containing all those words together, in that order exactly. If you don't use the quotation mark, you'll get huge results because google will show you the results of all pages showing those words, singly or together, anywhere on the page.
Example:
me a dummy -- 1,080,000 results for me a dummy (means those three words can be all over the website).
"me a dummy -- 921 results for "me a dummy (means those three words were found together, in that order, on this many sites).
Just including this because it's surprising how many people still don't know to use quotation marks for google searches on multiple words. You don't need to put quotations before and after the word, just before works the same.

'Defensible' is a good thing to keep in mind; it means to be able to solidly, clearly defend why you bought the name. Not just 'it looked really cool, great for branding, someone in that field will love it', you need to go further: Would you certainly develop the name? If you didn't sell it, do you still love it enough so that you'd never regret getting it? How exactly would the name be used by you or someone else? Does the name describe that use clearly or will you need to 'convince' someone? What kind of person or company would actually buy the name? Do you think they really WOULD buy this name, instead of another, for a decent price? Is the name quite unique and perfect to their use, or are there a ton of alternatives they could choose from still at reg fee? Is it realistic to approach this kind of an end user, would they listen to you? Is this kind of name in their 'groove'? How much would they realistically pay for it? And especially: does it look like they are already perfectly happy with the name they already have?
End users are a hard sell! They usually don't see what you see, and have other interests.

For brandables, think ahead. We've learned from the recent LLLL sellout to LOOK AHEAD. But, especially with the now-popular LLLLL and with short hyphen domains like LL-L and L-LL and L-L-L-L etc., there are still a lot available... but at the same time, these trends seem to be going somewhere so it's nice to at least grab a few you like, to be proactive. The key is smart regging, and moderation. I could write a whole book about what to watch for, but just check out the threads in the other areas of Namepros. I mostly buy LLLLL that sound/look like other good words (not other crappy words - this is important) like twuck and siyns and golof, and I also try out typos... and the smallest amount of my LLLLL regs are just because I 'liked' the name, even though it didn't look like anything. Those are the ones to be most careful of, you can reg thousands of names you just 'like', and not sell one. If you absolutely LOVE it, then still let it go. Only get the ones that, after you turn off the computer, make you run back, turn it on, screaming 'I've gotta get that one or I'll never sleep tonight'. And even those are usually a mistake the next day :)
Be real careful.

Ton of names tonight, I hope the 'searched' names are regged by people who want to dev them or think strongly they can sell them, and I hope the brandables are taken by people who absolutely can't live without them.

I could write for another hour, but gosh it's time to get going. Happy regging.

Thanks for this post Bannen.. I am a newbie and have been wasting a lot of money on cr*p domains so I could park pages. Well I can't live off 2 cents income per day. Your post is extremely helpfull.:hehe:

Thank you! This is amazing. You must have amassed enough Karma points to retire on.

Ps. I found a "Fancy Grill" brand name, a company in Malaysia. Not sure about TM.

As a new domainer I have to keep myself on a budget, but your list tempts me to go hog wild! Sigh...

BTW someone took cashplaces.com. "Cash places" is a huge keyword for the cash advance vertical.
