You know, I'm starting to get frustrated with people in this industry. I've had two domain and one website deal go unanswered in the past week alone. It just truly frustrates me when you say you'll buy something (or make an offer knowing you'll be held to it) and simply ignore me once I try to contact you. I wouldn't even mind it nearly as much if the person said "look I don't want it anymore".

I've backed out of one domain deal in my life and it was because the guy didn't accept Paypal and I wasn't going to put a check in the mail for $4.00. I contacted him and explained the situation. Granted, he wasn't too happy, but he accepted it.

If you ever back out of a deal, just please tell the guy you don't want it anymore if he contacts you about it. Don't ignore him.

The most unusual and creative way that I've seen a buyer back out of an offer, came during a recent Sedo deal. I accepted a low ($150) offer for a good .biz name. Unbeknownst to me, the previous owner had a redirect to it *from* a 3LLL .net domainsite. Despite the fact that my domain was on a Sedo for sale page, and that the buyer clearly could not have mistaken the name he was making an offer for, he claimed that he thought his offer had been for the 3LL .net. If, in fact, he was so obtuse as to have not seen what the name was that we had negotiating a price for, he must have really thought he was making a score, because the 3LL.net, was a good one.

I currently have two name sale situations in which the buyers are dragging their feet. One is for an offer that has been accepted- the other is an overdue response on a counter-offer.

Believe me, CrazyTech, I , as well as, many others here, empathize w/ your plight.

I have only had one bad experience. Stupid me I take paypal on a sale from someone I did not know. Needless to say the paypal money was reversed and it took a great deal of wrangling to get it back.

You always have to be very careful

Looks like I just wasted more time, got a PM requesting prices on all my names within a certain price range, went through my list, priced them all (many even below what they wanted to pay) and no reply... good thing I said prices valid for 12hrs or I'd still be sitting here waiting for a reply and possibly loose out on another offer on one of these names, dead beats, but thats ok, I know who these dead beats are and they wont be getting any names off me... now or in the future...

It's happened to me before too. The one time the offer was for $3,000 and when I replied then I never heard another word from him. It's very poor business and ethics to make an offer on a domain and then not have the professionalism to atleast let the seller know they are no longer interested. That's one of the biggest drawbacks to the business are the dead beat fools, but that's with anything in life. There's always those type of people out there that always try to screw around with someone's time and business. >:( :yell:

It is very frustrating and I had to deal with situations like that many times.

Sometimes, could be another domain seller trying to see how much you're asking for your domains for comparison or fo other reasons. Of course, they are other reasons like the buyer is not interested anymore because of the asking price....etc! Patience is critical in this domain game. I had a buyer once replying and coming back after almost a year, offering to buy the same domain after never heard from him or received any responses for a long time.

You just have to be professional in this business but don't expect everyone else to be...!

just my 2 cents!

Sorry to hear that dude. But these kind of things are good sometimes. It's the experience which came for free. Should definately help you in doing better deals in the future.

Best luck,

I just closed a sale that I thought had died and gone away 6 weeks ago, - a deal that has been, kind of, bumming me out. No horn to toot- no actions on my part that I can point to and say, "This is what I did". It just worked out.

Wanted to pass along some optimism, which for me, is an area that has been taking some heavy hits over the past month.

Ouch, sorry to hear of that Lux. Hopefully the situation will be resolved.

I had a bit of good news too - I suppose the one deal that really counts for me (as of late) was made. The buyer was super professional and prompt on replies and payment. It was nice to conduct a deal professionally. It was also my largest sale yet.

Nobody ever said it was going to be easy Crazy.... This is business and thus there are ups and downs. My only advice to you is stick with your high morals for this will, without doubt, rise you to the top :)

If you can start the day without caffeine;
If you can get going without pep pills;
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains;
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles;
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it;
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time;
If you can forgive a friend's lack of consideration;
If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when,
through no fault of your own, something goes wrong;
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment;
If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him;
If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend;
If you can face the world without lies and deceit;
If you can conquer tension without medical help;
If you can relax without liquor;
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs;
If you can honestly say that deep in your heart you have no prejudice
against creed or color, religion or politics; then, my friend, you are
almost as good as your dog.
