Backordering: WWD, GD, and BlueRazor

I had a rep tell me today that if a domain is backordered at one of the registrars (e.g. GD), it can't be backordered at any of the other registrars (e.g. WWD and BR). I had previously thought you could backorder any one domain at all three: WWD, GD, and BR.

Does anyone know if you can back the same domain at more than one of these registrars?

No, if backordered at any of the three: GD, WWD, or BR, the domain is completely unavailable for backorder at any of the other three. This also applies to Godaddy resellers too.

BR is owned by eNom WWD is owned by GoDaddy. eNom and GoDaddy use the same third party back ordering service.

Thanks for the confirmation Asian. Also, I had no idea BR is owned by eNom. I thought BR, WWD, and GD were all Parson's companies.

BulkRegistrar is owned by eNom not BlueRazor.. My mistake :P

Whoops, I guess that's what happens when you use acronyms...

Thanks for the input everyone. I was getting frustrated because I was trying to backorder the same domain at BR and GD and it wasn't working for me (I only could backorder at one or the other). I guess it now makes sense why this didn't work for me...

BlueRazor is owned by GoDaddy and unlike Pool or Snapnames, their backordering service doesn't require you to go through an auction so only one person can backorder a specific domain name throughout their chain of companies. That is why you can't backorder the same name in both places.

Backordering has always confused me. Do you pay if you don't ever get the name?

i always thought you only pay if they get the domain for you... otherwise it'd be a very :kickass: setup for the backordering business, and there would be a lot more of them around :)

@ GD you only pay if you catch the name. :)

OK,

Thanks for the info. I always thought that you had to pay reguardless and was wondering why it was so popular. Now I'm a bit more interested.

You have to pay to buy credits. The credits are non-refundable. Credits are only deducted when you have a successful backorder. Don't buy too many credits otherwise you may never be able to use them all.

you have to pay, but then you can switch to other names later on.

The three are effectively the same, once a name is backordered on one of them it can't be backordered on the others, same with any of their resellers who offer the backorder service.

Quite a few names I backordered a GoDaddy were actually caught by one of the other two.
