Hi,

I have just bought first GD backorder credit, I back ordered domain, and right now I am wondering what will happen: Will GD will get domain, are there any other backers, how long does it take for whole process?

From info I can share with you:

Status: Public Backorder active
Expiration date: 15th June 2015
Registar: (it's not Godaddy:))

I would appreciate if you could tell me something from this. Thank you.

You'll have to wait approx 70 days from expiration date for the domain to drop and then cross your fingers to see if GD is successful.

Today is 72nd day - assuming there are people like me and did the same. Do you think I steped too late in this game for this domain?

I don't know the technicalities of it, but you can keep hitting the registrar to see if it's available. Sometimes, bots register domains to see if the name gets traffic, they then ask for a refund within 5 days if the name does not.

I have found this domain at Namejet, there are couple of bidders already, status is pending delete. Does this mean Namejet got this domain?

No Namejet does what all other backordering services do.

We did a hangout on the ins and outs of the backorder and it is archived on youtube. This will probably answer any questions you have and more. If you still have questions let me know.

When it comes to placing a backorder the chances of caching it are lower with Godaddy, Pheenix. You have a better chance with Snapnames, Namejet and DropCatch.

But...

This does not mean you should always place backorders with those 3 since they are more expensive. If I really see potential in a name being valuable I go with those 3. If I like the name but do not feel it is worth that much I simply look at how many bids this name has on Namejet if it is 0 bids then I backorder with Godaddy or Pheenix.

Any Domain registered with eNom, Fabulous, Network Solutions, DirectNIC will be auctioned off with Namejet prior to being dropped (where you can pick up the name with a backorder). Namejet is the Auction House Partner for those registrars. If there are bids on the name at NameJet, there is no way your backorder with GoDaddy will get the domain. It will go to whoever wins the bid at NameJet.

Likewise, Snapnames will auction off names expired with Domain.com, Dotster, Melbourne IT, Moniker, Name.com, Register.com, Tucows. If there are no bids with this auction partner, it will be dropped and your backorder may be successful.

1&1, Fastdomain, MarkMonitor do not have an auction partner, so it is always best to acquire via backorder for these registrars.

GoDaddy expired names always go to Expired Auctions at GoDaddy.

Hopefully this helps!

This is a list of backorder services according to their snipe capabilities:

1) Snap
2) Dropcatch
3) Phenix
4) Dynadot

You can get 15$/pop backorders from Dropcatch if you b/o a lot, and you can get 14$/pop with pheenix if you spend more than 2000$ with them during your lifetime or something like that. Godaddy has very low chances of sniping a domain name if any of the above mentioned 4 have it on back order.
