Backorder or not to backorder ? Help - Newbie

Ok there is a site that i really think is great , but then again I am a newbie and probably is not worth buying .


It is dropping in a few days , backordering will cost me 60US by pool.com .
Both .net and .com are dropping at the same time probably owned by the same person.
.org is taken by someone else, it is quite long name and its got three words on it.

I really dunno what to do , it seems like a very good name to me.
It could sell well in a near future I think, it is something that is developing in a way.

My question is ...
What should i take on consideration ?
what tests can i do to see if it is going to be worth anything or not?
Should i buy bot the .net and the .com

If it's a 3-word domain, it better be good
It's very possible that it will not get any backorder and you will be able to handreg it... just check the date it will drop at pool or snapnames.
Difficult to comment without knowing the actual name but your plans are important as well. Is this just for resale or do you intend to develop the domain ?

Yes, difficult to gauge without knowing the name but I guess you could look at the backlinks the site/domain has to see whether it would be worth it, just one idea!.

I want to sell ... I do know this name wont sell for much yet but i really think if this concet gets big it could sell very well.
I do not want to develop just sell it.
If this counts , the .org of the same name is got a nice website going .
How do i check previous history ?
What tools can I use. And yes I am poor and 60 dollars mean a lot to me .

Also , I will post the name of the site as soon as buy it or gets registered by someone else.

You can get some whois history from a domain at domaintools.com and you might be able to see what the domain was hosting in the past at archive.org

If the .org is an active website you most likely will get some traffic but whatever or not you can spend your money better is impossible to say without knowing the domain.

It was Reallifegaming.com , didnt backordered and someone has already taking it.

IMHO you should not worry about not getting this one. It is a long name and really not that great... You will get many other chances to grab a way better domain.

Not true at all. In this economy, people are dropping pretty good domains left and right because their business went out of business, because they don't have the money to renew, because they're paring their portfolios to the bare basics, or they just simply forgot. You can get some excellent domains by backordering them as they drop.
