Which companies are the most efficient and cheapest in the market for backordering domains?

I have 10 domains on my list which are in Pending Delete Stage.

Looking forward for urgent replies.

the backordering services that have affiliations with the registrars that currently hold the domain names you are interested in, will most likely be the most effective ones to use.

for instance, if a domain is currently with enom, then namejet is most likely to catch it.

or if a name is curretly with gooldaddy :) they are likely to catch it.

imo...

Not if it's in pending delete.

if you can respond the OP's question with a definitive answer, feel free to do so.

The cheapest options are not likely to win the domain.

Any API will beat GoDaddy.

Domainmonster is no risk (i.e. no up front cash)

Hexonet/Name.com is $50 but refunded and is first come so if they get it you win it no auction which is cost saving.

Namejet/Snapnames I think go to auction if more than one bidder but no cost up front.

Andrew Reberry will beat any attemps to hand reg if it's two words that have meaning together.

Best bet: Domainmonster, Snap, NJ, Pool.

Hexonet/Name for the ones you really like just in case.

Not if the domain is dropping. Then it's a free for all. Those Drop-Catchers with the biggest number of Registrars knocking on the doors of the Registry usually win out. Personally, I think that means SnapNames, then NameJet will capture approx 80% (or more) of dropped domains which are picked up. Other less noticeable drop-catchers are Pool, InTrust (who are basically scammers), Andrew Reberry (private dropcatcher). But most times backordering at both SnapNames and NameJet will capture a dropping domain.

But. If you are talking about Pre-Release dropcatching (technically not dropcatching because the domain never drops), they are usually exclusive to the Registrars affiliated Drop-Catcher, as biggie points out.

How much time does it take for pending delete domain to be available to register? Let's say, if the pending delete date is 1/5/2011. How much time days will it take to become available to normally register that domain?

Any API will beat GoDaddy.

I am new to this. Can you elaborate it more?

Don't use GoDaddy backorder.

People have used the "hand typed and go through all their ads, find coupon, enter coupon, setup credit card and press purchase" method to beat a backorder at GoDaddy.

APIs are available at some registrars: Dynadot, Name (not for dropcatching), Hexonet, Enom etc. They beat hand regges but don't compete with registars in general.

Well It depends. Suppose if the expiring domain is registered with Godaddy then use Godaddy same is true for Name.com.
But if the registrar doesn't offer their own backordering service then go for Snapname and other famous services.

Regards
Robin :)

Expiring names usually goes through auctions.
Pending deletes do not.

A good name at GoDaddy get at TDNAM.

Dynadot backordering is much worse than Godaddy backordering for the reason that Godaddy has many more Registrars knocking on the Registry's doors. The other thing I dislike about Dynadot backordering, is that the backorders are public for everyone to see. Basically I now use Dynadot to backorder domains I could hand-reg when I wake up. I also use their search feature, which could be improved.

Perhaps this might make it easier for anyone similarly asking.

If the domain name is expired, you backorder with the controlling registrar or its partner (e.g. Go Daddy = TDNAM, eNom and Network Solutions = NameJet). If the domain name is deleted and in redemption period onwards, you backorder with as many providers (e.g. SnapNames) as you can afford.

To maybe make it easier as well, who are the top three players in the latter part? Is SnapNames still good on that one?

SnapNames>NameJet>Everyone Else. I would say that SnapNames captures most of all, then NameJet. With these 2 you are likely to have between 80%-100% chance of capturing the domain.

Godaddy has many more Registrars knocking on the Registry's doors.

From what I've read they don't often get out of bed and bother walking to the registry to even knock on the door. Doesn't matter how many registrars you have if they all hit the snooze button.

if pending delete date is 1/5/2012, then it should drop some time that day.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks Jurgen.

@defaultuser - I'm not recommending GoDaddy for backorders, I'm just saying they're better than Dynadot. Personally, I think they both suck for backordering. But I'm saying both are useful if you want to automate the process of grabbing a domain which is going to drop and doesn't get picked-up after it drops. But of course hand-regging such domains is always going to be the cheapest method of grabbing these domains. So I still sometimes (a few times a year) use both their services. Personally, I prefer GoDaddy and I'm prepared to pay their premium because 1) They are better than Dynadot and 2) The backorder is private.
Of course my comments are related to dropping domains not domains in their auto-renew grace period. For domains in their auto-renew grace period, you must bid on the domain at the domain registrar's affiliated drop-catch partner, usually SnapNames or NameJet.

I have never had any luck with backordering.. I've tried godaddys software several times and have been unsuccessful at each attempt. I have heard good things about name.com's service.

The best 2 drop-catchers by far are SnapNames and NameJet, in that order. Did I say that already? :)
