Background coloured links

I have a group of about 6 websites which I am attempting to use to make money from adsense and clickbank. I have linked back from all the sites to all the other sites. On a few of the sites I do not want the links shown at the moment as I am building designated links pages for them at the mo. For example http://www.mydebtadvice.co.uk on the left (just unde clickbank link) the links are coloured white (the same as the bg).

What I am wondering is whether search engines like google can notice this and whether or not it would interfere with how they rank pages? also would it stop the crawler from following the link as it knows its hidden?

any thoughts would be appreciated,

Thanks,
Steve

You dont worry until you show your link doesnt matter if it is white colour or black
search engines wont ban you for this

dadog1 - any content, text or links that are the same color as the background color will get you severly penalized or banned altogether.

If, by chance, search engine algorithms don't identify it, your competitors may find it and report it. Same consequences.

hostingfun: so what seo above said is wrong the search engines act can see the links and can tell if they are 'hidden' by colour?

thanks again

Yes someone could report you and you would be banned

The problem doing this is that if ur rival may report google about this and ur adsense account may get banned.

My guess is crawlers have a means of comparing the link text to the background. What i'd suggest is using a very very similar colour to the background but not precisely the same...then you might be able to argue it was a bad choice of colours, but it will still be next to invisible and not exactly "the same" as the background.

I'm not offering that as professional advice, I think it would be better to just have them out in the open. If you insist on disguising the links, the above method may save you, but i'm not promising it will.

i missed out in my orginal post that if you link all your sites together and they are all on the same host/C-class then you are gonna get a big penalty whether you hide the text or not.
