Hello, I backorder a DN in july; now when I check the Whois info its register under dotster.com with dotster corporate address and no name on the DN Whois. What do you think, Sedo pick up the name or something else? It was going to drop on the 7th of this month when I check on Pool.com. Here the WHOIS

Where did you backorder a domain in July?

Just placing a backorder does not mean you will get the domain.

Many others could have backordered the same domain.

Someone probably backordered using Dotster's service and Dotster beat out your drop catcher.

Not all backorder services are created equal.

Some are very good and increase your odds of catching a domain and
some are weak or outright suck in which case you would probably be so out of luck unless it's a domain no one else wants.

In that case, you probably could have just hand grabbed it during the drop.

Safest bet is to backorder a domain you really want everywhere you can.

"It was going to drop on the 7th of this month when I check on Pool.com. "

A lot of the time the drop date is an estimation.

Looks like Pool was off by a few days since it seems the domain dropped on the 3rd instead of the 7th.

I backorder it at, Pool, snapnames, and namejet.

Didn't know that was even possible !
Is it common for Pool to have wrong data about the soon to drop domains ?!

:hi:

It's not that Pool or any one else has the wrong data, the problem is that although there is a domain deletion process not every Registrar goes by the same time lines.

You would think that all .COMs dropping today would have the same expiration date but they don't.

Thus the drop date is at best estimated.

I follow the domain drop pretty regularly and noticed some time ago that domains dropping on a particular day do not all have the same expiration date.

Here's an example I just put together using domains that are dropping today which I borrowed from a domain drop list at
ValueDrops .com.

The domains were randomly selected so don't focus on them. I was sure to pick each domain from a different Registrar.

Remember all these domains are dropping today but you can see the wide variance in the expiration date from the earliest on June 21 to the latest on August 05.
