Global software behemoth Microsoft Corporation and its Indian arm, Microsoft India, are facing a trademark infringement case filed by Ahmedabad-based data research and analysis player Azure Knowledge Corporation (AzureKnowledge.com).

Azure Knowledge has also raised the matter with an international forum by filing a petition with the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB). It has sought cancellation of registration for Windows Azure, which Microsoft uses for its cloud service products.

... It also seeks to restrain Microsoft from using the domain name Azure.Microsoft.com and for the rendition of accounts of profit allegedly “illegally earned” by using the trademark ‘Azure’.

Lol. TM owners feel they are entitled to be the only ones to use that name, even though multiple people can have the same TM on a word or phrase.

Is this for real? I hope they have deep pockets, and are prepared for a reverse domain hijacking decision.

So many times these lawyers think that with a TM application they completely own the word. There are even some lawyers in the domain space who lean as such. Then another day they lean the other way. Back and forth....Where ever the money is.
