Avatars.cc will be expiring soon, and I'm wondering what to do. I had a couple thousand avatars set up with 4images gallery and it was bringing in ok traffic with a little bit of revenue with adsense. I suppose I could stop being lazy and bring back the site. Please appraise/advise.

Update: I've created a site for Avatars.cc, and am considering selling it and buying some traffic/revenue names to build my portfolio. Please appraise Avatars.cc, both the site and the name, together.

Thanks!

Get it back online, add more content and optimization and wait for a mid $xxx offer at least!

As AHA7 said , go back and add more content and more avars! Put tutorials on how to create some well-looking avatars and then you can wait for offers like 250-320 $

I would say $xxx (higher range) since i know adding so many avatars is a long process :)

Best of luck!

Site looks good. Logo could use a little work. "I" would expect low to mid $$$ for the name and site.

I'm curious about the omission of any keeling Island pics. It is one of the more beautiful places on our big blue ball.

Cool site

Thanks Namenut. I got all of the graphics in 2 big zip files that I had to sort through and rename/categorize. It took days! If I can't get a reasonable amount out of a sale, I will just continue developing it and adding more images, maybe even make some of my own.

I understand completely....especially if you had to do any resizing or uniforming etc....

I just figured with the extension you would get some viewers expecting to see the "cocos islands. I have "LLLLLL.cc" and have looked into a travel agency for tourism to the islands. Quite a remarkable place. They have an island that is off limits to humans but you can tour it offshore.
Known for it's sailing, fishing, wind surfing, scuba and tank diving. And some of the clearest water on earth. You can see 100' down ....so they say.

Best of luck on the site. I'll be visiting a few times I'm sure.

Since you already have avatars up and running, might as well take the next step and offer myspace background context. Both in combination should satisfy the Instant Messaging Communities as well as the social networkers and expose you to some traffic results from myspace, which in turn, should push the value of your site.

currently, i wouldn't let it go for under low-mid $xxx, if you put a few more months into it, you should easily get into the $xxxx

just :imho:

My Opinion:
Avatars.cc Is A Very Nice Generic Domain Name, I Would Hold Onto It & Wait For The .cc Market To Bloom, If It Was Avatars.com You Would Be Looking At Alot Of Money.
(Why I Think You Should Wait For .cc Prices To Rise)

My Suggestions:
Advertise Avatars.cc, A Few Link Exchanges.. Post On Some Forums.
What Im Trying To Say Is, Promote It, Get People On It..
Also Put Some More Ads On, Generate Some More Revenue.

If You Do That You Will Own A Quality Generic .cc Name With Traffic + Revenue.
Right Now I Dont Think You Should Sell, But If You Do You Would Be Looking At:
High $xxx. If Sold To The Right Buyer.

I Hope Ive Helped,
LogiK...

I've been doing a little link building and SE submission, and the traffic is starting to come in. Yahoo has picked the site up with some great SERP results, considering I haven't really put THAT much work into it. I'm ranked #1 for Free Avatar Graphics and I keep getting traffic from keywords like "St. Patrick's Day Avatars, Disney Avatars, Nasty Avatars, etc." I may start making my own avatars and building the database up a little bit. Adsense isn't paying that much, so I have a feeling people aren't really exploring the site as much as they could if I had more graphics.

Also, I just realized I have 30 members. How did that happen? :)
