RE: Autonomous & Driverless car domains

Seems like there's a lot of news lately, as recently as the last few days, of advances in driverless & autonomous cars. There are multiple auto makers getting ready to launch some form of these cars, and of course, Google is working on their project car.

I have a handful of domains related to this news & technology, and I am wondering if anybody else has any? Also, any spike in traffic to your domains, or news of sales???

Autonomous Grocery Vans Are Making Deliveries in London

Fire up an app, order some groceries, and get them delivered to your door. So far, so normal, thanks to the likes of Amazon Fresh and Instacart. But in one part of London, that kind of delivery is currently being made by a self-driving van.

The deliveries are made possible by a vehicle called CargoPod, which was developed by Oxbotica, an autonomous-vehicle spinoff of the University of Oxford, and makes use of the online grocery retailer Ocado’s infrastructure. It’s a small electric vehicle decked out with lidar sensors and stereo cameras, which uses Oxbotica’s autonomy software to sense obstacles and navigate roads without human intervention. (Though, as in America, British law still requires a human safety driver behind the wheel.)

For I see the only real world use of names for this tech niche, 'outside some B2B applications',
related to UBER style cabs/taxi's. Perhaps 4 to 8 years from now but with controlled limited service areas.
Why ? Because that's where the profits are for it and the tech is anything but near perfected.
So a few brand-ables are in order. Being a made-up word, it is trademark-able.
This is only my second name reg'd in the 3 years I have given it any thought.

Taking a ride in MIT’s self-driving wheelchair
screen-shot-2017-06-23-at-3-58-37-pm.png

Over the past few months, CSAIL’s (MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory) self-driving wheelchair has become a familiar sight around the MIT halls. It’s a nice little rolling advertisement for the lab’s work — and more importantly, it’s a great opportunity to test the mobility device in a real world setting. As students wander by in groups, deep in conversation or face down in their smartphones, their paths are unpredictable and collisions are a very real possibility.

This kind of real world testing is exactly why the chair exists in the first place. It’s hard to test autonomous cars in out on the streets. It turns out there’s a lot of red tape involved when it comes to trying out driverless technology in the real world — particularly in a densely populated city like Boston.

Nearby military bases have popped up on the list of possible locations, but in the meantime, the school needed ways to try out their ideas before scaling them up to two ton pieces of rolling metal. The wheelchair serves as a good middle ground between real and remote control cars, letting researchers iterate more quickly on their ideas. The fact that the product could have real world applications for people with mobility issues is something of a happy coincidence.

Self-Driving .Delivery / Autonomous .Delivery / AutonomousVan(s)

The first self-driving grocery delivery van

I got to experience the disruption of autonomous deliveries first-hand in Greenwich.
I stand on a curb in Greenwich, admiring some reasonably attractive new-build homes. Everything is a bit too clean, a little like Disneyland. Young professionals mill around. In the distance, I can hear the hum of the Thames Clipper river bus service that goes up and down the river. And then, out of frickin' nowhere, a van stealthily crawls around a nearby corner. The vehicle is electric and completely silent, and it's heading straight towards me. A bit like the Speed episode of Father Ted.

As the van gets closer I can see there's someone in the front seat: a guy in a high-vis jacket. A couple of seconds later, I can see there's a giant nerdy grin on his face and his hands aren't on the steering wheel. The van slowly trundles forward and eventually stops in front of me. The man hops out of the cab, clearly enjoying the baffled look on my face.

"You ordered some groceries?"

"Yeah..."

"Okay, just push the button here, and the door will open."

Baidu Forms Major Alliance to Accelerate the Adoption of Autonomous Driving

Baidu, Inc. (NASDAQ:BIDU), announced today that more than 50 partners have joined the Apollo open autonomous driving project, forming one of the largest and most diverse autonomous driving ecosystems to accelerate the development and adoption of autonomous driving.

A photo accompanying this announcement is available athttp://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/3240632e-fc97-487d-a43e-a2fce001c8f0

Members of the Apollo alliance are from a wide range of sectors. They include leading vehicle manufacturers, such as Chery Automobile, FAW Group Corporation, Changan Automobile Group, and Great Wall Motors; tier 1 suppliers, including Bosch, Continental Automotive, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, and Desay SV Automotive, among others; key components providers, such as NVIDIA, Microsoft Cloud, ZTE, Velodyne and TomTom; startups, including AutonomouStuff and Horizon Robotics; and ridesharing companies, such as UCAR and Grab Taxi.

The alliance also extends to five top universities and six local governments, including Wuhu in Anhui Province, Baoding in Hebei Province, Yizhuang in Beijing, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, and Shanghai International Automobile City.

Qi Lu, Baidu’s group president and COO, made the announcement earlier today in Beijing at Baidu Create, the company’s inaugural AI Developer Conference.

“Apollo is an important milestone for the automotive industry,” said Lu. “It is in essence the “Android” of the autonomous driving industry, but more open and more powerful.”

First announced in April, Apollo is an open platform that provides a comprehensive, secure, and reliable solution that supports all major features and functions of an autonomous vehicle. The project, named after the historic lunar landing program to illustrate its scale and complexity, consists of cloud services, an open software stack, along with reference hardware and vehicle platforms.
