Augmented Reality (AR) domains

Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

Not as secure as you might think... I have high hopes for my VR names, and have already covered my reg-fees for the next few years, but AR and Holo are still a bit of a crapshoot - Time will tell if they turn out to be solid investments... (That's why we diversify our portfolios, right?! )

yes its way bigger opportunity for sure!

AR can be applied to so much more within varied industries and will be 3-4 x the size of vr!

Those of you getting into AR domains are making the right choice, we'll have to sit on the domains for a few years but definitely stay in it. The biggest challenge is trying to predict the future where AR will be most prevalent and get short, premium domains for end users (or develop yourself later).

My first AR domain i got several months back was ARshades (k0m) when I was guessing AR devices would mostly be wearable, and this was the last 'eyewear' noun available and I feel pretty good about this one regardless.

Next I started to see that AR would be huge with tablets too, while viewing with the built-in camera on your tablet the screen would show what you're pointing at and augmented reality enhanced. This would be a good place to think of apps that a tablet or mobile phone would need. Very hard to find domains available here, but keep up with new ideas and see if they could be an AR app one day.

I'm real picky so I only have a small handful of regular 'AR' domains that I could find, but I started getting into 'Mobile AR' instead to pick up the premium keywords. This is still a risky way to go as the keywords 'Mobile AR' don't have much significance, though myself personally believe it will.

Because AR hasn't jumped off like VR yet there are still many opportunities to find gems as technology starts to show itself, opening up good keyword verbs and nouns to connect with 'AR'.

My advise is to be very careful, and try to not to go crazy like with VR domains did. Avoid at all costs hyphens and numbers and always keep it .com. There are exceptions to this rule of course, opinions vary.

Example of domains I've so far registered, I am vigilant to possible new registrations as new tech starts to show itself. These are all .coms.
