Last night I ignored the urge to register SpaceShipThree.com , and today the .com .net .org and .whatnot is all taken.

Today I decided to redeem myself and find another good dn investment. After a bit of investigation I discovered the huge potential of Augmented Reality: Google Trends: augmented reality . The estimated AR market size in 2014 is $732,000,000 , especially in AR marketing.

I think adverts and billboards shown as augmented reality on mobiles will become simply huge, and so I decided to get a piece of the pie, all new .com registrations:

ar+
advert
adverts
billboard
billboards
registrar

There are still a lot of possibilities available, so I thought I'd share this so you can also get a piece of the action :santa:

yeah not bashing the tech - but this thread was started in 2009 and can you tell me has there been any notable AR sales?

even the OP dropped his names..

This is a great test

type in google

AR - nothing comes up
Augmented - you get listings and news
Holo = Microsoft hololens
VR - comes up for virtual reality

just giving you newbies a heads up.
I thing the most important period is until finish of 2016, if AR will gets big invertors like VR/holo did I see no reason why this tech wouldn't succeed and guess what, did anything came up when you was searching "vr" 2 years ago("holo" is very similar to "hologram" so this one probably gave better search results), especially before Facebook bought Oculus for $2bn?,that's exactly what this tech needs.

Wait...AR is the glorious state of Arkansas!

How long will it take for AR to become a mainstream product?

Or surely should you all be using Holo as a Keyword for this niche "ar"?

Around 2 years give or take.

The term "AR" is already being used to mean Augmented Reality but you're right, Google searches bring back few results because it's early. Googling "AR" by itself is not going to have results, but Googling "AR mobile" brings back 348,000 results. Still not a lot but it's not too shabby for this time in the game. Google other obvious variations with "AR" and something is being said about it in small circles. I don't feel like going back to the links I posted earlier but there's no denying AR will be big.

This is a damn good question.

This is a damn good question. I think for the next few years there will be a coexistence. Maybe the technology merge any day, but nobody knows, when that will happen. For the next 4-5 years AR couln't replace VR, because of the smaller Field of view. Maybe in 5-10 years we get HMDs's, which are able to offer an augmented and a virtual experience. But are this AR or VR glasses? Or something new - like Holo, Cyber or Cinematic (as Magic Leap calls it) reality? Nobody knows. :)

In general I'm thinking, that AR will gets enorm profit from the VR rise. In some time, there will be a lot of new technology on the market. If I'm wrong, I wasted some money, but hey - it was fund to dream of it. :) For AR there is a risk - but vor VR I'm more than optimistic.

This early in the game you're right, we can only watch and wait to see where the buzz will be. The thing I'm seeing now though is VR is big now, while the acronym "AR" is rising.

Last year, vrxxx.com was dropped... You were in the auction and let someone else take it rather than trying to take it. Now you are doing same by not collecting AR.

Subjot offered the DN to me last year for $2500

but at that moment in time I was dying with cancer and didn't think I'd be around to enjoy it.

I'm happy to be alive and near closing a ll.com for over a mil - I honestly don't care about VR or AR domaining is just a pass time for me.

I've nothing to prove in this business /

Good luck guys with AR/VR/Holo

Bro, You already proved a lot :) A true legend !

Yup, domaining is yet another thing to have fun. If we make it too serious we can't enjoy the fun of domaining.

Hi guys, I'm focussed now also on "Cinematic reality" or "Cinematic Virtual Reality", what means storytelling VR experiences. Not much traffic right now, but important players in the VR / AR business use that term more and more. There was some interesting adresses like cvrglasses(dot)com, cvrxxx(dor)com or cinevrmovies(com) already free. :)

That's thinking outside the box alright :) Checking the exact search results for those two terms do show there is interest in those areas, though not a lot yet. I'll be watching that with you on those terms to see where that goes.

OK, these are possible, brandable AR domain names that available. It is extremely hard to find good AR domains with hardware keywords like "glasses" or "visors" etc. I'm not saying to get these, but they are maybe possible options?

arspex.com
arlensez.com
arsunnies.com
arsunnys.com
argogs.com
arskully.com
arskullcap.com
artrainers.com
arskipper.com

The last one is a variation of the taken keyword "Guide", I don't know lol ... they're just ideas for your guys' consideration.

I know they look good but bro its not a good idea to reg a brandable for this kind of emerging techs, if someone looking for brandable they have billions of choice but if they seek for generic then they have to buy from you ;) if ar had some recent big sales "maybe" brandables could be an investment but for now its not really good. Just IMO.

My opinion too, too much risk but just ideas. I can see these domains registered later, like those weird ones because there's already crazy variations reg'd already.

I have registered few brandables, but I really couldn't hold myself to not register:
entertainar.com or commerciar.com +3 others

ARProjection
(com)

That's a sweet domain name, the keyword "projection" is extra interesting because that's basically what AR does.
