Asked a grace delete - Instead got reregistered.

Hi,

Yesterday I requested a grace delete for a .mobi domain. I had plenty of hours left. Today I received an email from Dynadot, stating the "order has been finished". So I was glad, however after still seeing the domain in my list I read the email and it was a regular "your domain has been registered" email.

Dynadot's chat support is offline and won't be online until tonight. On top of that I only have 4 hours left to grace delete the domain. Dynadot asks you to atleast request the grace delete 24 hours before the grace delete period expires.


Is a registar obligated to honour your request? If so, do I have any chance of getting them to delete my domain tonight? I'm sure that at the moment I requested it I still had more than 24 hours left.

I do not have any experience with dynadot; however, grace deletions are usually granted/denied at the registrar's discretion.

There live support might no online but, you might have a ticket system. Once ticket is enter before the time, you should get it at registrar discretion. I haven't work with DynaDot, so this might not work. Just posting based on my general experience with other registrars.

Asking for a grace delete doesn't guarantee you are going to get one. They have a 10% expired domain name threshold on specific tld's and if that number is hit they will not delete your domain name till more domains are registered.

I do a lot of registering with Dynadot and this is how it works. Sometimes I don't get them deleted with 24-48 hours left.

Alright guys, thanks for your replies. I decided to let it go and don't bother them with it anymore. Suppose I was just unlucky this time.
