A generic domain name offering peer-to-peer file sharing through a completely legal site has relaunched this week, it has emerged.
LegalTorrents.com, one of the earliest providers of peer-to-peer services on the internet has reappeared on the web with a host of new features, NewTeeVee.com reports.
Although other sites such as The Pirate Bay and Mininova are currently popular for those looking to download software, movies and music - among other things - illegally, LegalTorrents.com will hope to build on its premium domain to offer a more lawful alternative.
Commenting on the relaunch, Legaltorrents.com owner Jonathan Dugan said that the site will differ in that it will operate with enough funding being generated from visitors and users - rather than relying on advertising.
"We see the site maintaining a marginal cash-flow positive position to cover costs and support the community … we are a participatory community to discover high-quality media where all of it is creator-approved for sharing," he said.
