Time to ask everyone.

Are you developing your mobi's or just sitting on them?

I watch for developed ones daily and see a one or two here and there. Most seem to be coming from the same sources. It seems to me that the majority of mobi holders are just sitting on their names, crossing their fingers that the mobile web will get filled miraculously by the site building fairy. Prove me wrong.

Show your intentions. Are you developing a mobi now? If so, when do you hope to have it live? I've seen pledges to do this and that, but what are you doing now?

If not, share with us why? Are you happy with parking? Do you feel it's not worth the effort? Just lazy?

Let the floodgates open!

:)

For some people it boils down to 2 things...

1. Don't have dev. skills
2. Have spent all their money on regs

That only leaves the choice of parking and waiting for
your investment to mature.

Wouldn't disagree with that, would only add that point 1 above is probably more of an obstacle in terms of perception.

There's also (at least theoretically) the likelihood of new tools emerging over time that would make development both more efficient and more effective.

And then there is procrastination, as always. So many plausible excuses, so little time...

P.S. Seriously though, development is clearly a must and - for the avoidance of doubt - no excuse can be good enough for so many of us.

two finished(fairly simple sites) , two in development(quite complicated sites) and plenty more with develpment ideas that I'm researching ready for development.

I wont buy a .mobi unless I can think of a really good plan of action regarding development.

I think a lot of people get caught up in the whole buying and selling of domains, which then blinds you to the real reason for domains in the first place= websites!!

to be honest at the moment I dont think it matters what .mobi you have, if you build it they will come.

now I'm spending most of my time trying to come up with great dev ideas that fit the .mobi extension.

just my 2p

I don't know about a chimp, but a chump can as that's what I mainly do.

The "I don't have developing skills" or "I don't have the money" excuses are just that with site.mobi and mobisitegalore.com around. These tools are easy and free. Sure, there are many limitations and the site might not be what you dreamed of, but it's a far site better than a parked page.

If you're still not convinced to get going, I'll throw out some numbers for you.

100 parked names I have at Namedrive had 8 page views total at around 10:00 AM this morning
12 developed sites (9 are mobisitegalore sites I did) had 982 page views (page views do not include bot traffic, BTW)

Although these numbers are not out of this world, they're certainly encouraging to me. Keep in mid, each page view, whether in parking or developed, is an opportunity to monetize.

2 of my self developed are a PR3 already.
0 of my parked names are page ranked.

I have fun every evening checking where my traffic is coming from. There's certainly a good feeling of accomplishment to see other sites you've never heard of linking and promoting your site(s).

I don't know about others, but I'm feeling pretty confident that the time I've invested in developing these sites will pay off in larger dividends than the ones I've got parked.

My traffic and page rank on developed sites increases every month.
Traffic on parked sites stays about the same month after month.

When I started this response, there were over 50 views but only 5 votes?

Clarity

My team and I are developing several dotmobi websites. We have some challenges in that the content has to be approved by the constituency group with whom we represent but they will like it...I am sure. :)

I have http://mobienthusiast.mobi live, and am part of the team on http://recalledtoys.mobi. Development is a big hurdle but I am getting there. I think Work In Progress is to be commended for getting so many sites live without being a developer - nothing gets in his way. I plan to take a lesson from his playbook.

Work, I would've repped you again but the computer won't let me.
