I found an .at domain to register.
Went to namecheap. It is disfunctional. You can't search even a com domain.
At enom, it was very expensive although I'm platinum.
At one registrar I followed steps one by one, but I was not shown an option to pay for it. No invoice. Nothing. Only thing was that it appeared as a new domain on my account.
Went to another registrar, created an account. it required sms verification. Done,. And their site said, wait one day before we verify your account.
And domain is gone after a few hours.
How can this be. All roads to registration are blocked for no reason.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Generally, US registrars do not handle ccTLDs very well.
Probably the name is not available, it is a short name perhaps ?
It's also possible they were showing the name as available when it wasn't.
I would use a European registrar instead. There are plenty of German/Austrian registrars who will get the job done properly.
Have you checked the whois record at nic.at ?
