Hello All,

I would think it's fair to say that when we put up names for appraisal, we are generally dissapointed in the appraisors estimation of the name's worth.
How many members do not put up names for appraisal, for one reason or other - and what are those reasons?
How many names featured as being sold on NP's, were put up for appraisal first - and then were sold on site for a significant sum?

Thanks to any replies.

I used to put my names up quite a bit and yes, some are not to your satisfaction, but its a good indication for what others think. I used it to try and find a middle ground for pricing some domains. I don't put them up for appraisel anymore because people just appraise for the Rep, nothing more so you don't know what's true or not, all you need todo is look in the section now and 80% of domains up for appraisel will say (REP ADDED+++++++++++++++++).

I want people to give me a truthful answer, not a bs one just to get the rep.

It seems that if you don't offer Rep, two things happen
A) wont get an answer
B) get some smartass negative comment

Thank you

Sin

I personally don't post many names for appraisal because I feel I have a good idea as to what my domains are worth (to me). But of the names I have posted... I feel like I've gotten reasonable responses from the forum overall.

You need to keep in mind that no two people are going to look at a name the exact same way. Some will view it from a developers perspective - considering brandability, keywords, market saturation etc... while others may view it from a "I only know how to park" perspective.

If you aren't expecting insanely varied responses - you're expecting too much imo.

I generally stay away from putting my names up for appraisal, because like Don, I have a good sense as to what my names might be worth. I might want to get more for them than I think they are worth, but don't we all?

Regardless, I think that the domain appraisal section is for those members who are speculating, and need a range, rather than a discrete value.

When I leave appraisals, I generally do not leave a monetary figure, but my thoughts on how the site can do well. I think this is more beneficial to the owner of the name, because they can see other potential development ideas that they might not have seen on their own
