Sure is a long list

1. I think antioxidants.mobi is my best development name due to it's popularity at the moment (30K OVT). Whether it will be that popular when dotmobi finally reaches mainstream waits to be seen... I know alot of those nutritional fads don't last more than a few years.

2. As for second best, I'd imagine that would be OledMonitors.mobi granted it's now fairly certain that OLED will be replacing LCD technology as the new high end monitors.

3. Third best would be SpicyFoods.mobi. With a 1,000,000+ OVT, I'll have to make a site around that!

4. Fourth goes to SolidState.mobi. As many know, flash memory (solid state) is rapidly gaining ground on hard drives and within the next few years (perfect timing for dotmobi), it will surpass them. Solid State hard drives offer numerous advantages over the current ones -- namely enormous electricity savings (sometimes over 50%) which will greatly increase the battery life of UMPCs and notebooks. Solid State hard drives also promise near 'instant on' capabilities as the high end SSD have much, much, faster read/write times then even the very best hard drives on the market today. We'll soon have cell phones with 32GB+ hard drives thanks to this technology which may in turn make dotmobi even more popular as the lines between a cell phone and a computer (for all non-graphic intensive purposes) becomes increasingly blurred.

5. Tough call on fifth, however I think I'll give it to 5 HTP. It's rather common scientific knowledge nowadays that Melatonin (a premium reserved dotmobi) has numerous health benefits due to it being able to deliver it's antioxidant power without becoming a prooxidant and by being able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Melatonin has been found to increase mean life expectancy in several studies of various animals by 30-50%. Melatonin is also a very, very effective insomnia remedy which has no side effects. It allows the individual to remain in REM sleep longer which enables 2 things: a more refreshing sleep and the ability to sleep for less time.

5 HTP is a precursor to melatonin (the body converts 5 HTP into melatonin at night) and hence 5 HTP is believed to have the same benefits as melatonin (although it has not been proven at this time). What has been found however, is that 5 HTP is a more potent antioxidant than melatonin, that it also crosses the blood brain barrier and that it's also not a prooxidant. Looks like it has a promising future, one I hope to be apart of

And you're right, not many of them jump out as soon as they are looked at. I tried to focus more on both future potential and development potential rather than try to register acronyms, short brandable words, etc.

Some of the names, (such as 5 HTP) would be of immense value to a manufacturer of 5 HTP for example. I take 5 HTP myself and it has helped me sleep better so I figured what the hay it's worth the reg fee

Other names, such as antioxidants.mobi for example, offer a word which while itself is worthless (i.e. who will buy antioxidants?), offers the ability to provide general information on antioxidants available and the particular antioxidants that are currently known to have certain health benefits such as resveratrol, lycopene, epicatechin, quercetin, etc.

Many of the other names such as personalizedmedicine.mobi, plasmonics, GAAS, etc. describe future technologies that have not yet reached mainstream.

GAAS for example, is the acronym for Gallium Arsenide, the successor to today's silicone chips. Companies such as IBM have made chips (CPUs) 500 times faster than those currently on the market by utilizing this technology.

As for plasmonics, this is a even further out technology which is based on the ability to allow computers to work as if they were made out of fiber optics exclusively. I've oversimplified this one a bit, the actual underlying mechanisms are extremely complicated however it does promise fiber optic-like performance. This technology promises CPUs which are tens of thousands of times faster than those available today -- something which will allow computers to take on more human-like identities and tasks rather than the mostly data crunching they are used for today.

Personalized Medicine is the ability to perscribe someone a different dose (or medication altogether) based on their genes/DNA/genome. For example, certain diseases such as cancer (once again greatly oversimplified as different cancers [i.e. lung cancer vs brain cancer] may [and do in many cases] have different results which is why this type of therapy and hence cancer itself, proves so difficult to treat effectively) may have deleterious effects to certain genes. Once we have a better understanding of the human genome -- something that will inherently come once computers are much more powerful and do not take years to analyze a single protein sequence (and we call ourselves advanced... :bah: ). Ironically many of my names depend inturn on one another. Without switching from silicone, we'll not be using plasmonics, nor personalized medicine. The same holds true for many of my names.

As for the virtual clothes -- I believe this is the next step in the future. As Gordon Moore put so elagantly himself -- the number of transistors on an integrated circuit doubles roughly every 18 months. This has held quite true and promises a few things for the future -- namely the possibility that in the future, full powered computers (by today's standards) may be integrated into a shirt, suit, etc. Imagine for example having a cell phone built into your shirt that was the size of a button. When someone sent you a phone call, your bluetooth headset would make conversation a breeze.

In short, I'm a believer in the future and these names will be a ton of fun to develop whether they ever become worth anything or not :]

...are you experienced/adept at selling domains to health/tech niche end-users, because without traffic parking domainers won't be interested.
...are you prepared to hold the far-off tech ones until the market catches up?

keep in mind that you are double speculating - on a tld that isn't established yet, and on health/tech possibilities that are unproven.

Thank you for a very honest opinion Yes I agree the health names are double speculation however the way I see it is that if even 1 or 2 materializes, it will likely pay for the reg fees of the other double speculations.

I'm looking into making sites out of most of them or forwarding them to sites I own (i.e. antioxidants.mobi might forward to dietandnutrition.mobi). That way I'll have 1 site with good traffic and since all the names I'll be forwarding there will be health related names, I think it will work out. I'm not planning on selling the health related ones (unless I get some crazy high offer) as I'm planning (actually just started today!) on making a large site with hundreds of pages over time of health information.

I agree with you that Teen Health could prove to be a big winner if developed. Teens and young adults always seem to represent a large portion of early adopters of new technology.

My names certainly are long for the most part! I'm hoping Voice/mini keyboards catch on with cell phones. If cellular internet really catches on, I could see a large chunk of my audience being the middle-aged who don't plan on dying before they hit 100 and want to see what they can do to increase their chances of getting there.

Remember, friends, these are name that have mostly been drafted a couple days ago.. let's not use your landrush immediate standard expectations.. this is a courageous effort here..

..to say there is nothing much of value here I think might be an overlooking statement..

..there are some interesting names here, particularly in the food/health section.. and, of course, those learning subjects are underrated.. and can be the frontrunner .mobi domains for students and professionals worldwide for the fields respectively.. I am not too familiar with the latest technology hardware terminology, but if they are the future trend, that is great.. also.. there are some names that appeal to the important demographic of women..shopping..worldwide.. in the "Life section"..

Going for the home run swing with "LimitedTimeOnly"? :]

.. and for names like "sucralose", etc. .. they might show up first someday in the Yahoo or Google mobile search for that term.. a small lake.. but if you are the King of that lake.. interesting approach with the food/health/diet..

For some names you might say: "What does that have to do with the mobile phone?". I think there will be so many phones with internet that we could be wrong by placing assumptions/predictions on lack of usage for keyword domains.. I think if you own a small lake..perhaps you will see some fishing there with a large, worldwide, diverse mobile audience.. particularly if the sight is developed nicely, and even more so as a first mover (as the writer merits).. and linked

Yes, many of these names don't appeal to us right away as super strong.. however:

1.) Which ones do you think have potential that you think are worth keeping (for development) because they are worth reserving at $8.99 (answerable.com price) a year only?

2.) Which names would be strong in Dot Com with the $8.99 gauge?

I admit I was somewhat foolish... I was following up on dotmobi for months before landrush and when I found out they were reserving 5,000 names, I didn't even bother looking into which ones they were -- figuring that would encompass all good dotmobis... Boy was I wrong! Sadly I ended up not being able to get alot of good names that I would have liked to because of my ignorance.

I agree that considering when I regged them I did a decent job... Took me a month to find all these names at roughly 2-3 hours per day. Whether it ever materializes I guess it's like you said... It really depends on whether people stick with the basic "cell phones are for stocks, weather, ringtones, pizza, 'adult' entertainment, etc" or if cell phones become a whole new mobile version of the internet where everything available on the internet becomes available on cell phones.

For what it cost me to register these... <2K, I'd say it was worth the effort... Win or lose, I learnt alot about various fields reading thousand of Wiki pages and wouldn't take that back for anything!

actually I think you got some good names ---

most of the scientists and post-docs I know use mobile technology to communicate - telehealth, telemedicine, etc --- so if mobi really takes off, you may have scooped up some real sleepers (tissueengineering, etc)

these are "long-term" mobis, but excellent forward thinking!

Granted I got into dotmobi late in the game, I found that future science/tech seemed to be one of the few areas that still had meaningful words left... I'm really surprised myself how hard it is to find a dictionary word dotmobi already... The extension's been out so little time -- I was somewhat shocked when I initially attempted to register my first few dotmobi finding every single word I came up with was taken.
