Some of you may be aware of the fiasco unfolding over one my domains. Read the humorous story here
Anyway, as a result, this brings up a question I have had in the back of my mind for a while. I realize "the point" of domain appraisal companies. But seriously:
1) What's the big deal? Can't an experienced domainer do his own research?
2) If this IS such a "big deal", what companies out there do you guys recommend (when you're not knowingly getting scammed, of course ... see the link above)
3) The guy who is trying to scam me refused to accept an appraisal certificate from Sedo, for obvious reasons (he's trying to scam me, and get a commission by sending me somewhere else). BUT, his argument was that Sedo is a broker and also wants to sell domains. Thus they are not "independent". If this were a real inquiry, what would you think about this kind of argument?
Any other thoughts on domain appraisals, the theory behind it, and why it is a "big deal"?
