GoDaddy Job Fair - Anyone work for GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is having a job fair here in Phoenix and I was thinking about going down and applying. They are looking for sales and tech support according to the radio ad.

Anybody work there? I am curious what they are like to work for.

Thanks,
David

Based on some of the GD people I have spoken to the phone, you shouldn't have a problem getting a job there if you can speak English. Some of the people I have spoken with have little to no knowledge about domains, hosting, etc.

Best of luck with your job search.

Are there employee discounts? ;)

I sure hope so. I am wondering if I should keep the fact that all my domains are registered at Namecheap to myself :)

I'd imagine their employee contracts will have tons of do's and don'ts. So if
you're still going to engage in personal domain name-related activities, don't
use their computers at work.

Very amusing. I have noticed a similar thing.

Good call, I am sure they will too. I suppose that I will just have to do actual work. :)

I would keep the fact that you are a domainer to yourself and keep that under tight lock-and-key.

Just act like you are a fast learner and a great employee ;)

Well, yeah, of course they have "better" positions available than tech support. but you have to qualify for them ;). On the other hand, anyone can be a tech support/customer support person. That is obvious.

Perhaps there's a position for you as a mod at NP. :)

Frankly, If you can speak English and type English, you can be a tech. support.

Most of their replies are template replies As far as I can get from them..

Yes, tech support usually only require that you can follow a flow chart unless you are in tier2 or senior level support (which I doubt GD has). That's why so much of it is outsourced out of the country. Well, that and labor costs.

I think I am going to push towards sales instead of tech support. I don't know if I have the patience for tech suport. I can only imagine the sorts of calls they get for support.

I understnd you reasoning especially with how anal GD is with things like spam and such, but I'm not too sure that CS will require any less patience than TS.

Yeah, I tthink I am going to scrap the whole GoDaddy job fair idea. It will most likely suck to work there, and I deal with domains and sites enough already :)
