at dnware.com they're selling a piece of software for 130 bucks that they claim competes with snapnames, but runs on your own comp. It tries to reg domains at enom and moniker at 1 second intervals. Anyone have any experience with this? Seems a little expensive for something that is probably quite simple to code....

one thing is for sure it cannot compete with snapnames because snap has got about a 30registrars continuously trying to register domains .. the difference is micro-seconds :)

I inquired at them, and asked about a paid trial. I considered that I need to be entitled for a trial, for a product that I did not find reviews on the internet.

Their answer was ridiculous.
"We have been marketing this product since 2002. We have sold over
5000 copies to the domain community who uses it daily. I have never
once been asked by someone to lease it for one month for $10. You
gave me a laugh. This evening i grabbed five domains while i was
sleeping. Yesterday i sold one for $4000 that i grabbed with the
script last week. Check google for reviews."

I checked google, and there were no consumer reviews. and my guess is that the product is not really updated. Even on dnware.com it shows at the button of the page copyright 2001 - 2006 ....

They cannot compete with snapnames. I advise you to stay away from them.

Here is a review for you.

Kind of hard to set up, but once it's set up your good to go. You have to provide Moniker with your IP Addy so you can access there API backend.

I have NEVER grabbed a True Drop Domain. Yep Never.

You must keep your Moniker account stocked with $$ because if you do grab some, it takes the money from the funds there.

This software works good for the Lazy Man/woman if you are registering Available domains, because you Pre-Set your DNS and when the domain is grabbed it's already set, plus you do not have to go thru the check out process. lol

Rating for what it says it does :td:

I am trying to get mine sorted out as my IP is dynamic and they require a static one.

Pretty unprofessional response. Could have been put in a nicer way, for sure.

You should ask him what was the name that he sold for $4k & for proof of it.

I did not bother to answer back. for me it was a proof that it does not catch good expired domains, as 1 second is too much for that.

I like testing a product before I buy it, even if those $100 are not that great. But I appreciate too much every cent I worked for, so I will not throw away for a product I cannot test to see if it suits my needs.

OK, then - any other software that tries to do the same thing?

I grab drops at Moniker almost every day. They're not super-premium ones, so in my case, 1 second would be fine. I just want to avoid checking regs by hand, over and over again, every few seconds, for the 10 minutes when the domains are dropping each day.
