Anyone heard of a Mr Hans Hilker via email trying to sell RET dot COM requesting payment via Wester Union to his lawyer because he needs the money quick :)

His Whois checks out but in this climate I have to ask .. in case someone becomes a statistic.

Whois email contact has changed in the last week or so, little doubt that it is stolen.

**SCAMMER**

Western Union is an irreversible payment method, which in conjunction with needing to sell quick would set my warning bells off.

I personally wouldn't be going near this domain at present.

Thanks for letting us all know.

No probs Reece, I've been in this game too long to fall for a stolen domain. I simply didn't get back to him, he's on the same email as the Whois.

Here's the pitch..

i could go 9-10k it's a top name and you know it, it could reach really high on a proper auction or forum. However, i am looking for quick sale since i am leaving with my family soon for a holiday trip. I am just looking to liquidate my online asset. I could provide you scan of my passport as proof of trust. You will need to have a netsol account for quick push and accept to send cash through western union to my Lawyer who will act as middle man here . I am waiting for your answer.

My answer: Wester Union - F&@* O%^

I don't know what is wrong with all that using western union, all i know is that it's a fast way to transfer money. So i am asking cooperation since i am about to deal with you at a 10k us price which is really low for that domain and in return I am asking for a fast payment so i can have the cash before the holiday trip. If i had all the time in front of me, i could simply wait for any of those domain conference , and sell the domain for an easy 20,000$ or maybe more. I am an honest person and I am willing to have a honest deal here. So i want to be sure we are on the same page here.

Thank you for your comprehension,

Hans.

I'm wondering how many emails he sent out and to whom - and if it's sold yet ?

He should have picked a domain that wasn't an active business. Thanks for the heads up.

A lot of the scamming is going on involving wannabe phishers downloading ready-made phishing kits. It's a problem which I'm afraid will be getting worse before it gets better :td:

Wow. Very balsy. I hope no one falls for this trap. Most of the people who would be buying this kind of domain at this price, should know better then to use that payment method.

request him to use Escrow with seller paying the fee. If he is honest and desparate for a quick sell, he should agree to that arrangement.

I don't think there is any chance the seller is a honest person.

And escrow.com would not resolve anything in this matter, since a stolen domain can be sold through escrow without problem.

Yes, he is a real nutcase. I also got emails yesterday and today. I smelled a rat after reading the 1st sentance.

I get the impression he is contacting LLL.com owners at random and sending the same story out. As already mentioned, most/all LLL.com's owners would know better than to deal with this lowlife loser.

Sounds like a Scam to me!

Who would offer you a copy of there passport etc?

Stay away lets keep all fraudsters out of business!

Someone should call up the company that really owns the domain. They probably have no clue. I got an email from this guy as well. Its easy to tell its not kosher.

He's quite persistent, he's just asked me if I'm still interested :)

Comment on my blog from actual owner: "We are the current owner of the domain ret.com. To be clear, the domain is currently not for sale. We are aware that somebody from Greece is trying to sell our domain. This person somehow changed one emailadres at the contacts details at Network Solutions. We already changed everything, but we have our doubts about the security at Network Solutions."
