is anyone else getting spam messages in their email when they register a domain . everytime i register a domain i get at least 3 emails. they aways start off the same "we have noticed you have registered .com" than it goes on about buisness and than they want you to watch this video . i never had this problem before . anyone else have this problem

I get them from several sources .... Without "Private" Reg's - I guess it is part of the norm ....

I've never received that one, but I do get other spam obviously, lots of naughty related stuff.

I get emails, but I also get telephone calls:
"we were wondering, do you need a good host?"

I try to use a "[email protected]" for my registrations.

wow i cant believe they will go as far as calling you to push their hosting

The mailing you can only stop through private registrations

But I get phone calls also.
When they call I say: "Wait a second I will get the responsible person on the line"
They have to wait at least 5min and then "Sorry unfortunately he is away, please call later".

As I am living in Europe, and they call mostly from outside they spend as much on this one call, as they would earn for 3 years registration or 5 month hosting.

So the variable cost raising is my part on fighting those phone spammers.
I call it "The passive phone call" :kickass:

but I am thinking of one...
maybe get thunderbird and setup pop3..

I have got huge amounts of spam to my whois e-mail addresses and even got a few phone calls from different companies asking me to buy some stocks which would make me rich... yeah right...

Weird.. I've NEVER gooten this type of spam! I feel left out! hehe

Seriously.. what registrar are you using? Perhaps there's a connection between the two?

I get renewal requests sent via snail mail: "We would like you to renew with our company"

i have got a snail mail also from network solutions i think it was
but it was only one not like the ones i get in my email
